The war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon is not the only one brewing.
Here on the homefront, sydicated columnist Pat Buchanan has launched a broadside against what he says are "neo cons" -- America conservatives who support Israel and are really pushing for a wider war between the United States and Iran.
Writing in a recent column headlined, "This is not our War," Buchanan bemoaned the violence directed at Lebanon by the Israelis.
Fellow conservative David Horowitz's online magazine, Frontpagemag.com, has opened up a front against Buchanan, with an article that levels charges of anti-Semitism against Buchanan and other so-called "paleoconservatives" for their condemnation of Israel's actions in the war.
Quoting Fouad Siniora, the prime minister of Lebanon, as complaining that his country has been "torn to shreds" and demanding that Israel must pay for the "barbaric destruction," with a death toll among his people that passed 300 civilian dead, 1,000 wounded, and half a million homeless, Buchanan noted the comments of fellow Christians such as columnist Lawrence Kudlow, who says that "Israel is doing the Lord's work," and Ken Mehlman of the Republican National Committee, who told a gathering of Christians United for Israel: "Today, we are all Israelis!"

What I find just too funny about Pat along with his sister...when you look at their face features they both have ratty looking faces...their noses look just like a rat nose. I've pointed this out to friends numerous times.
"Mount up and ride to the sound of the dhimms!"
Just like folks that are anti abortion and pro death penalty.

I am wondering if it has something to do with Pat's RC upbringing. The Pope continues to condemn Israel and says little about the Islamofascists bent on taking down the Infidels. If you read the Catholic Bible, at least the pre-1960s one, you would hate Jews, too. Paul comes across as an anti-Semite. Some prejudices won't go away for those raised in the 50s. Laura Ingram is a Catholic and she doesn't talk that way. She's a lot younger, too.
Is Pukeannan still the leaader of the Reform Party?

Superficially quite similar, but substantively different. More babies are aborted than criminals are executed in a given year. The exchange of souls is skewed against the innocent unborn.
Being against the death penalty and pro abortion is defending to indefensibles. The first being the protection of a convicted murderer from a duly legislated, and authorized execution after conviction beyond a reasonable doubt; and the second being the condemning to death of a human being for which the mother can choose to not be responsible for and thus give it up for adoption.
An adult that commits a capital crime is given multiple opportunities to appeal their punishment. Many have their sentence commuted to a life sentence. Such criminals are given time, opportunity, the means, and more time still to deal with their fate. The unborn child has no appeals process, is given no time, and has the means for life cruelly snatched away for no good reason except that it is not wanted by an unknown parent.
This is not our war....yet.
"Looks like jla and I will stick with being
Reagan-conservatives with a Jeffersonian tinge"
What a shame about Pat Buchanan! A few years ago, some political folks accused him of anti-semitism. Conservatives like me and others rose to his defense. But now, in light of his stated position on the current crisis, I am given pause to wonder...
>I am wondering if it has something to do with Pat's RC upbringing.<
I believe you are on to something.Knovac has been quacking like one of those ducks also as of late. Then go check out the religous leaning of the anti-semetic democrats that are over 65.
When did the Pope forgive the Jews for killing Jesus?
It's hard to tell from your spelling, but do you mean Bob Novak? He certainly didn't have a Catholic upbringing. He was raised Jewish and converted to Catholicism only a few years ago.
I just want to know what the connection between Sundays and anti-Catholicism on FR is...
There is definitely a pattern.
Never. No such forgiveness was granted nor necessary.
Buchanan shouts that it is not our war as he criticizes the President. Why is he so adamant? What has made him think it is our war?
Forget the issue of whether Hezbolla, Syria and Iran are enemies of the United States.
Are American troops fighting along side the IDF?
How is it our war? We are sending supplies already under contract. As we are sending to some Arabs.
Americans are mostly supportive of Israel. Does that make it our war?
The President is refusing to condemn Israel. Does that make it our war?
The President is refusing to side with Israel's enemies and foes. Does that make it our war?
The President has refusing to force Israel to stop defending itself.
What would Buchanan have the President do that he is not doing so that it is not our war.
To Buchanan the issue is not that it is not our war. He thinks it should be our war. It should be our war by criticizing Israel. It should be our war by ganging up on Israel at the UN. It should be our war by forcing Israel to accept a murderous terrorist gang at its border.
Buchanan wants it to be our war. Our war against Israel.
Pat will never miss an opportunity to show his anti-Semitism.
This is nothing new. Many of his ilk, known as Arabists before 911, are vehemently anti-Israel and anti Semitic.
You cannot call yourself a Conservative of any stripe if you do not defend a free, Democratic, Capitalist , pro-Western country like Israel.
It doesn't matter what you ask Pat. His soul has been poisoned. He has an unreasonable, pernicious, and deadly hatred for Israel. G-d will judge him.
