Globe's Kuttner: Bush 'Lying Heir to the Lunatic Fringe'

Even for a Boston Globe columnist, Robert Kuttner's effort this morning has to go down in the annals of Bush-hatred at its most rabid. Consider these excerpts, annotated with my comments:

'The latest violence in the Middle East demonstrates the bankruptcy of the Bush administration's grand design for the region.' Stay with me - Bob's just clearing his throat.

'The quagmire has demonstrated the humiliating limits of US military power.' Crocodile tears?

'Saddam turned out to be telling the truth about nuclear weapons and Bush turned out to be lying,' Make your contribution today at SaddamDefenseFund@ramseyclark.org

'Bolton and the other radicals in the administration want Israel to keep pummeling Lebanon a while longer.' No, they want Israel to keep pummeling Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon.

'The party of mutual Armageddon . . . the war party of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Israeli right, the Iranian ultras, Rumsfeld, and Cheney.' Moral equivalence strikes again. The terrorists, and those who would stop the terrorists - same difference.

'[Neo-cons and Cheney want to] just have it out [with Iran]. Not a ground war or an Iraq-style regime change -- we blew that option-- but a war on the cheap, of missile strikes.' So a liberal laments a cheap war and pines for a full-scale invasion? I'm confused.

'There were some in the United States who wanted to have it out [with the Soviet Union], in World War III. Miraculously, they never attained power. Containment worked, communism fell.' Explaining the fall of the Soviet Union without naming Reagan is like describing a spiral staircase without using your hands. But Kuttner pulls it off.

'Today, the ideological heirs to that lunatic fringe are running the American government. Every arrogant miscalculation only leads them to more disastrous blunders.' Tell us how you really feel, Bob.

'Had Bush . . . worked as Bill Clinton did for a reduction of violence and a true peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, radical Islam would have far less appeal.' God bless Bill. Thanks to him, 9-11 was averted.

'With a mid-term election looming and the Mideast in flames, will voters finally recognize that this crowd is delusionally incompetent? Or will cynical fear-mongering lead anxious citizens yet again to rally 'round their president?' Ah, the hopes and fears of a liberal.

People sure are creative with words, when they aid and abet an extermination of the Jews.

Had Bush . . . worked as Bill Clinton did for a reduction of violence and a true peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, radical Islam would have far less appeal.

Clearly the reporter (I use the term loosely) doesn't think that Clinton inviting Arafat to the White House more frequently than any other guest emboldened the Palestinian and other terrorists.

This junk just makes my ears bleed...

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with dissent- no one is above critiquing, including whoever is President- but this stuff is just talking points and memes. He actually collects money for writing this drivel?

The thing that burns me the most about liberalism, is the sheer rabid arrogance of generally lame people. They're the greatest men to ever live, but only in the few inches inside of their own head.

This is not dissent - dissent requires thought. Kuttner is vocally emoting the same alternative reality constructions that have bounced around the left-wing echo chamber for years. Even the choice of words and syntax are utterly derivative of the Left's collective nightmare world: "quagmire", Saddam told the truth; Bush "lied", "arrogant miscalculation", "delusionally incompetent", "disastrous blunders" - all Democrat talking points, all offered without evidence, and all as removed from reality as the Boston Globe's editorial board. Reasoned opposition is one thing; emotive blustering without reference to facts or logic is quite another.

Kuttner has taken a left turn to moon bat land. How Iron that Kuttner is Jewish yet despises what Israel does in self defense. Jews hit by Hizbullah Katushyas for years doesn't bother him in the least

I never heard of this guy, He ran Pacifica Radio, founded The American Prospect and this is all you need to know: Kuttner considers conservatism America's enemy.

"Our [The American Prospect], mission, simply put, is to rise to the momentous occasion that confronts all Americans who seek a just society built on our greatest traditions. Contemporary conservatism stands to thwart those traditions; it advances its agenda by way of stealth, fear-mongering, and a massive propaganda apparatus. It is our mission to expose that agenda and the lies that support it. "

it's Massachusetts against Israel, apparently. Hear Kennedy said something more rabidly caustic than usual. There's probably a copy the "protocols of the elders of Zion" in the Hyannisport Public Library.

I guess he's what David Horowitz would call a "Jewish Anti-Semite".

They had a guy like this on Hannity last Thursday, and Horowitz was so disgusted with the guy that he started screaming at him (understandably, I might add).

I found myself wondering why they wouldn't have just asked him one simple question:

"What are your thoughts on Hezbollah and Hamas continually launching rockets at civilians in Israel?"

They never asked the most simple and straightforward question.

Robert Kuttner is co-editor of The American Prospect. His column appears regularly in the Globe.

The American Prospect was founded in 1990 as an uthoritative magazine of liberal Marxist ideas, committed to a just Communist society, an enriched democracy communism, and effective liberal Marxist politics. Robert Kuttner, Robert Reich, and Paul Starr launched the magazine initially as a quarterly joke.

~~snip~~ We founded the Prospect out of a conviction that the conservative NAZI undertow in American political life is profoundly influenced by the dominance of conservative NAZI media and FASCIST think tanks. Our conservative NAZI counterparts have played a critical role in pulling the entire national debate to the right. We intend to take it back - or we'll cry, hold our breath and stomp our feet like good little commies.

Commie cuckoo alert.
