Developed from the twin engine Avro Manchester the Lancaster with it's four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines had a top speed of almost 300mph and a payload around 18,000lbs. Flown by 617 Squadron, perhaps better know as "The Dam Busters" the Lancaster played the key role in the breaching of the Ruhr Dams as well as delivering the coup-de-grace to the battleship Tirpitz.
7366 Lancasters were built for the RAF and allies but only two remain flyable today. So on with the pics.

Pacific Ocean (July 19, 2006) - Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC) Midshipman 3rd Class Samantha Greco peers through a periscope aboard the Ohio-class submarine USS Alaska (SSBN 732) while receiving instruction from a crew member during a 24 hour underway guided tour. Greco is part of a group of midshipmen who have come together from universities across the country to participate in the annual Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID) program. The purpose of the tour was to help familiarize midshipmen with the operations and mission of the submarine community by allowing them to participate in training exercises while underway.
