A prominent Serbian Orthodox bishop Thursday said the U.S. was allowing Islamic extremists to wage war on Christians in Kosovo by deciding not to oppose Kosovo's independence.
Kosovo is an autonomous province in Serbia with a population of about 2 million, most who are ethnic Albanian and Muslim. It is currently administered by the United Nations Interim Administrative Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), but negotiations which began this year are expected to eventually result in independence for the province.
However, Dr. Artemije Radosavljevic on Thursday issued a warning about the prospect of and independent Kosovo.
"At a time when America is leading the free world in a global struggle against jihad terror, Kosovo-Metohija must not continue to be an exception, where for reasons we do not understand, American officials have taken the side of the criminals and jihadists," Artemije said during a news conference in Washington, D.C.

No, I am not suggesting a blank defense of Milosevic Regime and its role in the break of Yugoslavia and the subsequent Balkan wars. He had his share of wrongs and crimes. I'm not defending Srebrenica and any other cruelties committed by Milosevic or Milosevic allied forces in Bosnia, Kosovo or Croatia. So if there are folks on FR who are in hurry to accuse me of being Milosevic supporter, I humbly ask them beforehand to save themselves time and energy from spewing out nonsense.
In retrospective we can see that Milosevic, as nasty as he was, was a lesser evil than Jihadists. During the Cold War, different US Administrations had to make alliances with no less if not more unsavory regimes than that of Milosevic to stop the spread of Communism around the Globe because it was properly understood that Communism was the GREATEST EVIL threatening the Humanity and Liberty.
If Clinton-Albright were able to recognize the resurgent Islam as the greatest evil after the collapse of the Soviet Communism, they would not have supported the creation of the de-facto Bosnian and Kosovo Muslim states.
Clinton preference to think with lower rather than upper part of his body may explain his foreign policy myopia. However, Clinton Administration is gone for more than 5 years. The fact that Bush Administration continues Balkan pro-Muslim policies of Clinton-Albright crew 5 Years after 9-11 and after regime change in Serbia is simply inexcusable.
Fighting Jihadists in Iraq, Afganistan and round the world while giving the same Jihadists a country in Southern Europe and letting them to completely destroy or drive out Serbian Orthodox Christians is a disastrous and indefensible policy. Unfortunately, it's not just Clinton. Bush continues Clinton Balkan policies of letting Kosovo becoming de-jure independent Jihad state. There is always a hope he'll reverse the course, but until Islam is not understood as the enemy of the Western Civilization, Balkan mistakes are bound to repeat.

I thought that this was an endeavor that the UN supported. I was fairly young when this happened, or at least I wasn't political at the time.

It is to our nation's shame that George W. Bush has followed in Bill Clinton's footsteps regarding our policies in the Balkans.

I believe it was a NATO action.
Technically it was UN-NATO cooperation. The end result is that it helped Jihadists to gain their countries in Balkans and hence in Europe.

Show some backbone on this issue too please President Bush! It's not too late to reverse a failed Clintoinoid policy. Why worry about NATO...it's nothing without US...and post Cold War has shown itself to be involved in all the wrong ways.
Confirm to Serbia and the world that Kosovo shall never be independent from Serbia. Demonstrate to the world our gratitude to the Serbian people for their past sacrifices to our alliances. And then Serbians had better start having babies and moving back to their homes in Kosovo...what's left of them.
OK. Let's not talk in the abstract "folks like you" term -:))). In your opinion, I'm "misrepresenting" situation in Balkans. Well, If I do, do you have any other more or less credible sources that would prove me wrong as far as Jihadists being present in Balkans is concerned ? I'd be glad to read them.
And what is your suggestions ? Leave it like it is and let Muslim Albanians have their independent state in Kosovo because of Milosevic ? How does it look for the US national interests to give KLA folks their state ? Do you have any guarantees that KLA will not side with Jihadists round the world against US interests ? Grand Mufti of Bosnia Mustafa Ceric, BTW, recently called to side with Syria in its conflict with the US.

If you browse Google, you might find plenty of links alleging Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) ties to Al-Qaida and other Jihadists. Articles come from a plenty of sources, so if I misrepresent it, all of them got to be misrepresenting too -:))) So your sources please -:)))
