A Torrington man and his girlfriend have been charged with risk of injury after a 3-year-old boy was found locked in a room in their home with a broken arm.
Police said the boy was forced to stay in the room for a month as punishment for swearing. He was allowed to leave only to use the toilet for a bowel movement. A 20-ounce soda bottle was provided when he had to urinate, according to the police report.
The child's father, Jeremy Lacey 29, and his girlfriend, Mistee Lee Lemons, 27, were charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor ordered held on $150,000 bonds. They are scheduled to return to court on August 2.
The boy and seven other children in the home were taken into state custody.
The boy told police he hurt his arm trying to climb on a milk crate to open the door.
He was found Monday by a neighbor, who told police she went into the apartment after seeing several children hanging off a second-floor balcony.
Jenny Loomis told the Register Citizen of Torrington that when she unlocked the bedroom door and saw the boy with a bloody lip and cradling his swollen arm, she was devastated.
"I was shaking and it took everything I had not to cry about what I was seeing," Loomis said.
"When I opened the door and told him he could come out, he looked around and said he was not allowed to talk," she said. "I thought something has to be done."
The child's fracture appeared to be at least 15 hours old, according to the police report.
The children told police the couple also forced them to balance books on their heads as punishment, and would spank them if a book dropped.

Is there not some happy medium between sadistic abuse and letting kids run the household?? Of course there is. Discipline with love. There was no love in this home.

My neighbor's kids never leave their rooms.
I hope you reported it.

8 children...EIGHT Now wait just a minute. I have 7 SEVEN children , and I was one of 7 SEVEN children, and we had a marvelous family and I probably grew up in one of the finest homes in the country. The amount of children isn't the problem, it is the SICK MINDS AND DEPRAVITY of the human heart that causes junk like this.

Thanks for posting this little slice of life in da hood!
Having known many old time cops from years ago, I would say that you have the mind of a realist, and your tag line is a dead giveaway too!
Re the story about the little boy, the reason I knew so many cops was that after a call like that, they'd come into the place I worked and just knock back as many drinks as it took to put their game faces back on...and go out and do it again the following day. IMHO, there is nothing more glorious than a good man who is a police officer. Best of luck to you!

she had 8 children by the age of 29 and one was locked in a room for a month. Why you took my comment as a personal insult is astonishing to me. I was commenting that these monsters had 8 kids to ruin.

Hand me the baseball bat and give me 5 minutes in a locked room with these two idiots!......... Why go in light?
I would, at the very minimum, require:
- A box of 100 single edge razor blades
- Several pairs of hairspring tweezers
- A pair of Channel-Lock pliers
- A propane torch
- A gallon of white vinegar
- 5 lbs. of table salt
- An arc welder
- Steel wool
- A 3 lb. ball pein hammer
That would be just for the father. I have a whole other list for the mother.

If the most they can get is a month in jail, the D.A. should offer them no jail time under the condition that they be sterilized. I bet that doesn't happen. They'll get time served/suspended sentence, and the obligatory four hours of parenting classes.
Whaddya mean, that won't solve anything?

Left his 3 y.o. in the car with a guy the kid didn't know. I've had the same scenario at least five times....sometimes alone or not. Hilltop Crips and Eastside Piru each time. I doubt this will be the last time you see that

I was commenting that these monsters had 8 kids to ruin. You seemed to emphasize the size of the family. You never said she had eight to ruin, your post just said she had 8eight .I took it that you thought "Eight was MORE than enough"........I agree that she should have none with her cruel/ insane treatment, but large families are more often than not a asset, if given the right parents. My mom had her 7th child before she was 30. She was a precious mom, and happens to be the aunt of the candidate that is running for State Senate on the Republican ticket for California!!!!!

These parents were "getting off" on the abuse. This type of sadism - the books on the head, the locked room - it's as cruel as they were able to come up with. This is going to sound awful, but these parents should be tried, convicted and put to death. They are evil.
Their actions are not those of parents who are stressed, or parents who are walking a line between "abuse and letting kids run the household". They enjoyed inflicting pain of the innocent and helpless - they are the definition of evil.

That would be just for the father. I have a whole other list for the mother. Please don't use the terms "father" and "mother" in conjunction with scumbags such as these. "Sperm donor" and "sperm receptacle" are much more appropriate.......
