Respect for military surges [Bad News For Demoncrats This Fall]
The Hill ^ | July 18, 2006 | David Hill

In politics, we like to say that the only poll that counts is the one taken on Election Day. Based on their recent successes, military recruiters may want to chime in that the only poll on Iraq that counts is the one taken every month when their recruitment results are totaled.

If that’s the case, support for the campaign in Iraq is strong.

Last week the Defense Department announced that the four major branches — Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines — had met their recruiting goals for June. Annual goals are within sight, well before the fiscal year ends Sept. 30. Results for two branches of the reserves — the Navy and Air Force — are lagging somewhat, but both may meet their annual objectives.

The active-duty Army, after missing some recruitment targets just over a year ago, has met its goals for 13 straight months. The persistence of the Army’s results undermines the notion that we as a nation aren’t committed to seeing this war reach a noble and successful conclusion.

Recent polling data also bear testimony to a resurgence of respect for the military. In March, the Harris Poll released its long-running time series on trust in the leaders of various American institutions. The Harris organization, now known as Harris Interactive, has asked a random sampling of Americans basically the same battery of questions since 1966. From 1971 on, this venerable survey series has been asked on an annual basis.

We all can expect the canned response from the dhimmocrats: "Well, that's only because most of the enlistees are poor due to Bush's failed economic policies and the uneducated who listen to talk-radio..."

What's really bothering liberals is that the WRONG type of people are patriotic.... the people who are supposed to self-identify as victims.

So true. No one joins the military out of a desire to fight for the nation and to fight against evil according to the 'Rats. No, they all join because they're poor hicks impoverished by evil America.

The new Demoncrats have an ingrained dislike and distrust of the military. These new leftists don't believe in true self-defence, so in reality there would be no protection from our enemies.

The serving troops and the vets need to be treated very well. Military preference in employment and qualification for government benefits has to be increased.

The liberals are preparing and are prepared for a Vietnam style stab-in-the-back which will demoralize and defeat America for generations.

We must not let them pull it off this time.

Uh...... It seems that there will be large numbers of battle weary troops returning from Iraq during the next few months (some already returning), as new troops take their place.

Means there are gonna be a lot of MILITARY folks who were ignored by the MSM and DEMS, and ACCUSED by same, who will be very eager to use their RIGHT TO VOTE.

Since the Military discourages them from protest type activities, this is their chance to demonstrate how they feel, having been there, done that.
