We're not laughing now (Sure we are, at you: “eloquence of a second greater.”)

Posted on 07/18/2006 8:51:14 AM PDT by Liberty Toad

Remember back in 200 when George W. Bush was running for President? Even if you didn't support him, you were somewhat anticipating a Presidency with this amusing guy who didn't know the names of foreign leaders and who spoke with the eloquence of a second greater. Remember how after he was elected,Comedy Central even saw his Presidency as being whimsical enough to create a show, "That's my Bush." It was a laugh a minute back in those Bush salad days.

Now we have quagmires in Iraq and Afghanistan, a budding world war centered around Israel, $3 a gallon gas, $85 a barrel oil, the return of stagflation, a ballooning budget deficit, and a world that hates us.

I really don't feel like laughing anymore.

"Yes, I AM questioning your patriotism."

Why are you questioning it? I know he is unpatriotic without having to question it.

I think I'll go walk in the wilderness for a while and contemplate.....

don't bother..I'm out here and from where I contemplate, he's still an idiot.

Liberty Toad: I fill your pane. Nothing is worse than putting your innermost thoughts together and finally having the courage to peck them out for response. And realizing, after you push the *Post* button, you've opened the door for scorn or ridicule. That's why I'm here, acting casual, and sensing you're about to flee. Flea on, brave lib, flea on.

Ask your mommy about words that kinda sound alike, but mean different things.

They can't teach about homonyms anymore, because someone would complain about it being a hate word.

While I think that this post is an oversimplification, I would have expect FReepers to come out with more intellegent arguements, most of these posts are lame. Facts, instead of insults, tend to work better; otherwise, we are in the same boat as 20-something college liberals who can't formulate an intellegent arguement and resort to debased forms of communication (i.e. students arrested at UT-Austin when Ann Coulter spoke).

What about John Kerry throwing a baseball like a girl into the dirt at Fenway Park to the jeers and boos of the fans? What about Patrick Kennedy attempting an insurgent style crash through a barricade at Capitol Hill? What about Joe Wilson getting fired from the Kerry campaign after the Senate exposed him as a buffoon? What about Teressa Heinz telling a New Mexico city official, whose family had resided there for 200 years: "I know how you feel, I'm an immigrant too." What about Al Gore and his climate boogeyman designed to give kids nightmares?

If we cannot agree on the basics of the situation at hand (and his model is too limited) then maybe at least we can agree that he didn't come here for debate.

He came here to blow raspberries.

Most of the problems George Bush has had to handle have come as the direct result of Bill Clinton dodging and avoiding them. We have a full-tilt rip roaring economy that is so damn fast, they STILL are considering raising interest rates to hold it back. Bush has nothing to do with the increase in oil prices, as most of it is driven by the rise of the Chinese middle class and their desire for gasoline. I doubt you were old enough to to have experienced "stagflation", Sonny, let me remind you...it was a bi-product of the Jimmy Carter (democrat) administration, a man who knew nothing about how successful business's produced a profit, and who gave us 20% interest rates that strangled a generation of businesspeople. The deficit is 20% lower than it was expected to be, mainly because Bush's tax cuts worked spectacularly. Most of the world is inhabited by self-centered idiots who were, are, and always will be jealous of us, and the remainder are countries that owe us their existence, but that have very short memories.

In short, you are the Mayor of Wrongville, and President of the National Society for the Clueless. Take a nap, and go back on your meds.
