EU to Iran: Israel will not hesitate to attack it's ally, SyriaGAMLA INTELLIGENCE NEWSLETTER
The Arab daily that comes out in London, "Al-Sharq Al Awsat" reports this morning that European diplomats in Iran have warned the Iranians that Israel will not hesitate to attack it's ally, Syria. According to this report, these warnings are behind the decision to send the Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, to Damascus, yesterday for "talks". The newspaper also reports that these Europeans, coined "friends of Iran", warned Iran that Israel has decided to destroy the Hizbullah infrastructure in Lebanon and hunt down and kill it's leaders. The Europeans told the Iranians that Israel is ready to enter a "fateful" confrontation with Syria, which just in the last weeks has upgraded it's alliance with Iran. Under these agreements, Iran must send troops and weapons to support Syria in event of Israeli attacks against it. Iran, who sees itself as the Mid East power, would suffer greatly, if Syria was to get hit hard by Israel, without it entering the fray. It seems that the Iran is blinking, but this could be an illusion. The newspaper also quotes an Iranian source in the foreign ministers group that many leaders in Lebanon are treating Iran "more coldly" in the last days.

Sort of how after Zapatero was voted in, the Spaniards seem to have turned more liberal.
Odd that Europeans seem to alter with their leaders. Most Americans have the same views they had before George W. Bush was picked.
Damascus is dust anyway in the long run. It may be the Iranians who destroy it with a big bang...If the IDF takes Syria on.
Very glad to see this. This afternoon the MSM seemed to be trying to undo Israel's resolve by throwing doubt every time Israel spoke with clarity and determination. If Israel has decided to take on Syria, then the middle east bullies may be embarrassed because they didn't think anyone would allow Israel to make that choice.
We should help.
They have already done this so what the hell does it matter.
We are. Iran knows if they attack Israel that will give us just the excuse we need to hit the iranian nuke facilities.
We could have the rare opportunity of dealing with two birds with one stone. God is good!
Good point. The article mentions that Iran has recently entered a defense agreement with Syria. I suspect Iran has recently guaranteed things to Syria that may become a chain around Iran's neck.
The US has it's own agenda. It just so happens it's also in Israels interest.
I'm sure every plane arriving from Iran right now at the Damascus airport is loaded with weapons to be smuggled into Lebannon and for Syria.
The Bakka valley is a notorious weapons smuggling route.
The IDF took care of the Syrian SAM sites in 1982 and they can do it again. I'm sure the russians are selling them outdated worthless crap as they usually do.
I'm sure you're right about that.
Probably right, but it'd give our boys something to do...8-D
I'd say it would be logistically impossible for Iran to provide significant assistance to Syria in either manpower or material. They have no means of delivering the aid overland across Iraq or Turkey, or by sea either. They would be interdicted and destroyed with exceptional efficiency.
There should be NO planes from Iran landing in Damascus.
Israel ought to put a stop to that right now. An ultimatum follwed by a few shoot-downs ought to work wonders.
It is WAY PAST time to take the fight into Tehran.
What good is a B-2 if we are too chickens*** to use it?
LOL. The proverbial "talks" like when a wife says, "Honey, I think we need to talk."
D'oh!
