Stamford, Conn. -- Five months after juice spiked with dishwashing soap sickened more than 40 people during a church communion service, police on Monday arrested an employee of the store where the juice was purchased.
Wendell Woodroffe, 28, was charged with 22 counts of assault and 22 counts of assault of a victim 60 or older, said Darien police Lt. Ron Bussell. Bail was set at $50,000 and he was expected to be arraigned Tuesday, Bussell said.
"We're very happy we brought it to a conclusion," Bussell said. "Everyone wanted to make sure this didn't happen again."
More than 40 people became ill during a communion service Feb. 5 at Calvary Baptist Church in Darien, and five were treated at hospitals for nausea and vomiting.

"Do not use this product if the safety seal is not intact."
No. The crime was committed against Christians....now Muslims on the other hand.....
Try wine. It comes with a seal.
The "victim over 60" charges seem to be hate-crime inspired.
The age of the victim should not matter under the concept of equal protection under the law.
I'd like to see you try and prove he knew who the victims would be.
What a sick thing to do. Those poor people.
Apparently the store employee did this to some bottles of juice before it was sold. It can't really be a hate crime if you don't know in advance who the victims will be. There's no evidence that Christians were targeted because they were Christians.
"equal protection under the law"?? *snort* That went the way of the dodo bird and the 10th Amendment. It hasn't been a valid legal principle in a generation.
How naive can one be?
All crime is a form of hate - it's time to get real about that. The guy sounds like the typical useless sociopath - evil, but cowardly...
Governor Edwin Edwards: "Some Baptist believe that (at the wedding in Cana) Jesus turned the water into grape juice."
I worked with a few women who disliked a certain appraiser. They took his coffee cup (which he set in the kitchen for others to wash for him) and washed it, then would pour in the dish detergent and rub it around the inside of the cup. They knew it would give him the runs. The ringleader was in her 60s. Guess I know why I don't work there anymore.
Because you got tired of having the runs? :)
ROFL!
Or SOPR?

Well, I must admit that my plum tree is in full production this week.
It's safe to say that the victims would be Christian Baptists.
Not beyond a reasonable doubt, but you may still be correct.
Why? He was an employee of the store; how would he know who was going to buy the juice?
How?
