Israel’s Moment, the Free World’s Gain (In fact, we are all Israelis now)
NRO ^ | July 17, 2006 | Larry Kudlow

Posted on 07/17/2006 5:32:12 AM PDT by IrishMike

All of us in the free world owe Israel an enormous thank-you for defending freedom, democracy, and security against the Iranian cat’s-paw wholly-owned terrorist subsidiaries Hezbollah and Hamas. Israel is doing the Lord’s work. They are defending their own homeland and very existence, but they are also defending America’s homeland as our frontline democratic ally in the Middle East. Commentary’s Norman Podhoretz was exactly right when he coined the term World War IV to describe the global terror conflict. Repeatedly hostile actions by the totalitarians in Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, and North Korea are all connected. So are the recently foiled terrorist-cell-block plans in Canada, the U.S., London, and elsewhere around the globe. We are fortunate to have a staunch ally like Israel to assist us in this fight. ................................................... As expected, France, Spain, and Italy have responded to recent events with pacifist posturing. In the smoking rooms of Western Europe and around the coffee tables of the United Nations, we hear more lofty calls for restraint. But the terrorist groups that started this fight have shown no restraint. Rather than pull back, Israel should move forward, cleaning out all the terrorist sanctuaries, training camps, weapons caches, and missile systems it can find.

Remember, it was Israel that pulled out of southern Lebanon and Gaza. Later, when terrorist gangs kidnapped Israeli soldiers, Israel appropriately fought back. That is what sovereign nations do, and Israel’s recent military actions deserve our unyielding support. Israel has the right to put the terrorist armies of Hezbollah and Hamas out of business.

Hezbollah terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847, and trampled Navy Diver Robert Stethem to death.

The murderer, Mohammad Ali Hamadi, was released by Germany and went to Lebanon this year.

Israel is goading the Syrians and Iranians to a fight. The madman in Iran must be very disappointed. There are no mass demonstrations in the streets appealing for Iran to crush the Zionist murderers in Lebanon. Israel is not calling plays from the appeasement playbook of the last 20 years, and is acting like the as* kicking Israel of the 1946-1980 years. The media and Dims crap their pants every time Osama Bin Laden farts on camera, but Israel knows the scam, the chest puffing and ultimately the cowardice of the Arab\Muslim culture. I expect the scenes of bloody three year olds and plump burka wearing, mustached Arab women bleating in front of cameras for the MSM. It’s in their playbook. Israel is not playing ball, their foreign minister says regardless of the international pressure, the UN and the Arab street they are not stopping this time.

Bush is playing this one well. The MSM, Letists and other assorted US traitors have kind of hamstrung our pre-emptive strike doctrine especially during an election year. Israel is doing exactly what they should be doing in response to terrorists and at the same time, if this escalates, drawing down the number of foreign fighters that can pour into Iraq. Maybe not significantly, but it's keeping the Iranians guessing.

As a first step, Israel should knock out the Syrian dams which (illegally) cut off Jordan's water supply. That would help put the spotlight on some of the crimes of the Baathist regime.

You have to wonder what plan B is. Lebanon and Gazea both had their chance at elections and blew it. Now what? Paul Bremer?

If so then may God help Israel. And somehow He will.

Thanks for ping. Yes Israel is doing what it must do in order to protect it's citizens. Hopefully they will over the next month or so really be able to put a huge dent into both Hamas and Hizbollah.
So many semi-hidden rocket launchers must be located then quickly targeted. One recent article indicated a Israeli general felt they may have knocked out around 24% of the known or suspect sites thus far. Ways to go yet. As for the monkeys in Gaza. They have little option but to die, as they are target designated after launches. I still think Israel may just start rolling the tanks into Gaza in due time.

Perhaps together we can eradicate the scourge of Islamofascism.

Iran wants to fight a proxy war? Fine. Let's wipe the proxies off the map, and then see what Iran does.

Reading Yosef Bodansky's book on the history of the Middle East conflict, there was a real Iraq-Syria-Iran axis prior to the US/Coalition invasion in 2003. Until those dictators in Iran and Syria are gone, the war on terror will not be concluded.

Reagan's worst hour, when he bugged out in the face of terrorism. But, at the time, he had bigger fish to fry -- winning the Cold War.

Anee Isroeli. Trasliteration from my (very) meager Hebrew. Probably erroneous, but for what it's worth...
