Bill Clinton and Others Slam Israeli Response. What Do they Expect Israel To Do?
ChronWatch ^ | 17 July 2006 | Jim Kouri

Posted on 07/16/2006 6:13:26 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher

Former President Bill Clinton has joined the critics of Israel by saying Israel has overreacted to the abductions of soldiers and terrorist attacks by mounting a "disproportionate" military operation against Hezbollah and Hamas.

Clinton, who attempted to bring peace between Israel and the Palestinians but failed, called for the world community to pressure the Lebanese, Syrians and Israel to cease fire and allow intermediaries from the United Nations to discuss these nations' differences.

During the time he was working to broker a peace deal, in 1996 President Clinton assigned the Central Intelligence Agency to train Palestinian security forces, but many graduates used their newfound skills to attack Israel, according to Mike Rubin of the Heritage Institute.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for an end to the violence in the middle, but saved his sharpest criticism for the Israelis.

Joining leaders from France, Greece, China and other nations, Putin accused the Israeli government of failing to use "proportionate" military force against Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists and Lebanon, a nation that harbors Hezbollah.

Putin said through an interpreter, "Israel's use of force is disproportionate and should be balanced."

However, President Bush who's attending the G8 summit defended Israel saying there is no one on whom to place blame except Hezbollah. Bush also accused the Syrian and Iranian governments of supporting the terrorists, who are using Iranian built rockets in their attacks against Israeli cities and towns.

Mark Levin, a constitutional lawyer, former Reagan Justice Department official, and talk show host said in reply to the Israeli critics, "What are the Israelis supposed to do? Wait for a repeat of Hitler's death camps. Never again! Never again!"

Levin pointed out that the United Nations Security Council has been talking about Iran and North Korea for months without producing one resolution to condemn these renegade countries, yet within a few hours they wrote a UN resolution condemning Israel for its actions against terrorists. "I'll say it again -- NEVER AGAIN!" he yelled during his evening talk show.

The UN resolution of condemnation of the Jewish State was blocked by US Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, who also placed the blame on terror organizations.

Bolton was being blocked last year by a Democrat led filibuster during his Senate confirmation process. Even Republican Senator George Voinovich of Ohio cried on the floor of the senate at the thought of having Bolton represent the US at the UN. Voinovich, however, had no comment when reporters asked about the alleged corruption at the international body.

Besides Putin, the French government also had stinging criticism of Israel's military action against the Palestinian Hamas and the Lebanese-based Hezbollah, saying in a statement that Israel has gone "too far."

But political analyst Mike Baker, himself Jewish, sneared, "That's why France is such a successful "war machine;" when protecting yourself, you go too far if you kill the enemy. Now you know why France is such a military success."

In the midst of this violence, throughout the day on cable news channels, one appeaser after another goes before the television cameras and pontificates about the need to talk.

"We must sit down and talk." "Our leaders must have the combatants talk." "We must send a UN mission to the region to talk."

What if someone were killing members of your family: sons, daughters, cousins, nieces, uncles, aunts are all being killed or threatened by a maniac. Would you sit and talk to the maniacal murderer? I hope not. Only a coward would do such a thing and consider himself or herself a reasonable person.

"Clinton can shut his hole. He had his chance to build peace and he blew it by sucking up to the terrorist Arafart"

And this is what bugs me the most about Clinton & Co. For the last couple days I've been listening to these frauds criticize Bush for not being engaged enough...as they applaud the efforts of every president over the last 30 years. Do these people actually think diplomacy has worked over these last 3 decades.

What's even more ironic is that Clinton was one of the most "engaged" presidents to come into office, specifically targeting the Mid-East as a place to build his legacy. So important was this legacy, that many in his administration became directly involved in Israeli politics, helping in the efforts to get Barak elected. Yet, even with their man in charge--concedeing to most of Arafat's demands, peace was never within sight. On the contrary, we had the Infatada and escalated attacks against Israel.

What was even more deplorable...and what many people may not realize, is that one of the main reasons for Clinton's restraint with UBL and several of the terrorist attacks, is because Clinton didn't want to derail his ME Peace plans by rocking-the-boat. Clinton didn't want to engage in a real WOT because that could've potentially jeopardized his ME peace legacy by alienating the Arab/Muslim support he needed. He couldn't go after these terrorists because he needed their support if he wanted a peace-plan.

In fact, I'll go as far to say that Clinton's bombing of Serbia...and his continued support for Indonesia (even while Christians were being murdered in E. Timor) was all in effort by this administration to appease these Muslim nations...in an attempt to look like an honest broker. Yet, through all the diplomacy, all the appeasement and all the concessions, not only didn't we get ME Peace-plan as Israel was continually attacked...we also got attacked on 9/11. If 8 years of Clinton's "engagement" couldn't bring about peace...I'm afraid that nothing short of war ever will.

Liberals roll over and beg for mercy before the fight has even begun. Clintoon did practically nothing about the first WTC bombing, the USS Cole, the American embassy bombings, etc. So naturally he doesn't expect Israel to react strongly to islamic terrorism. It's the liberal way; they are cowards whose spineless bodies induce them to enter "negotiations" with a murderous enemy rather than fight and eliminate them. Bubba had eight years to "negotiate" peace with the islamofactists of the middle east and he got nowhere.

but I don't see any news service quoting former President Clinton using the word "disproportionate" in the last day.

They aren't saying Clinton said it

It says Putin said it .. though it is through an interpreter .. and that person could have translated it wrong

Putin said through an interpreter, "Israel's use of force is disproportionate and should be balanced."

If Iraq came across the Jordan River, I would grab a rifle and get in the trench and fight and die," said ex-president Clinton to wild applause at a Jewish fund-raiser in Toronto.

Yes, that line was a classic. Even by Clinton standards totally over the top and totally absurd.

Well, if Clinton really wants to grab a weapon and suit up Israel could use him in Gaza or at the northern border. Take your pick Bubba, Hamas or Hezbollah???

"Take your pick Bubba, Hamas or Hezbollah???"

A tough call.
But if I were choosing neighbors, I think I would pick Hamas or Hezbollah.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Why is this guy consulted by the media anytime something happens in the world. there are many ex presidents they could talk to, and all of them have absolutely no power to affect these situations. I'm tired of hearing this guy, he's irrelevant. What he says is not news, its old.

BILL CLINTON:

Supporter of terrorist HO CHI MINH, Communist Dictator of North Vietnam, and against us Freedom fighters during the Vietnam War

Facillitator of North Korea's development of offensive missiles and deliverable nuclear devices

Facillitator of OSAMA bin LADEN's aggression against us by refusing 3 free offers from the Sudan during the 1990's to give us this No. 1 terrorist enemy on a silver platter before he could hit us real hard here at home

Apologist to now Free Central Americans for America's fighting on the "wrong side" against CASTRO-sponsored Communist forces trying to take over Central America during the 1980's.

Apologist to the world for America being the only Super Power in the world, saying that all countries of the world should be playing on the same level playing field ..including our enemies.

The Enemy is now Within
...and always has been.

Didn't Clinton volunteer to pick up a rifle and fight for Israel if Israel were attacked? I guess when Israel is actually attacked, he has a selective memory.

"Clintoon did practically nothing about the first WTC bombing, the USS Cole, the American embassy bombings, etc."

I firmly believe that one of the reasons that Clinton didn't react to these attacks is because he needed Arab/Muslim support for his ME Peace Plan. From the moment Slick stepped foot in office, he dreamed of a legacy built around ME Peace. This administration went as far as to helping get Barak elected because they knew they could never get the concessions they wanted from the other party members.

Clinton couldn't wage a real war on terror because he would've had to go after the very people he needed to support his peace plan. I also believe this is why he sided with several Muslim nations in their wars with their neighbors. From the Balkans to Indonesia, Clinton supported Muslim governments...even when the victims were Christians. In the administrations eye's, this was their way of looking like an honest broker.

Clinton sold out this nation's security...and the security of others, because he wanted a ME Peace legacy. Through 8 years of concessions, diplomacy and appeasement, not only was Israel still living under constant fear of attack, we suffered our worst attack in US history. Yeah...diplomacy really worked.
