At the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Bush traveled to northeastern Germany in advance of his participation in the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Chancellor Merkel hosted President Bush today in the towns of Stralsund and Trinwillershagen, which are in the Chancellor's electoral constituency. The visit, which took place in what had been communist East Germany, underscores our two nations' commitment to advancing freedom and prosperity, and to strengthening the transatlantic partnership.
The President and the Chancellor took part in a joint press conference in the Straslund Town Hall, and the President also spoke in the historic market square. The First Lady visited a Kinderbibliothek (Children's Library) and toured Straslund City Archives and Baroque library, and attended a luncheon.
The First Couple visited St. Nikolai Church and toured it with Pastor Peter Neumann, and later traveled to the village of Trinwillershagen on the German Baltic Sea for a wild pig barbecue.
In tumultuous times it is reassuring to have a President who stands firm on principle and in strength of conviction and courage. Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on a MONSTER Dose!
Quite the compliment from such a Cheney fan! Thank you.
(The second highest number I've ever posted..........their trip to the Philippines several years ago was the only one with more).
I know that one too like Monday when my cable connection went down and I had to finish up on dial up.
Oh, that IS sad. I'll surely be praying for the family.
That is the problem with all our tiny electronic devices, they just seem to wander off on their own.
Even my high-speed is having trouble with all the pics tonight! LOL!
An ATTRACTIVE happily married couple. :)
Goodnight, tomorrow comes too early.
It doesn't get any better than that!
The only thing that would have been better was to meet President Bush so up-close and personal. Still have 2 more years, you just never know.
Your trips behind the Iron Curtain sound like they would have given me goose bumps.
I like her in a skirt or a pantsuit...........as long as it doesn't have a bow. :)
Oh my grammar, aackkk! Would have been to...? Oh well.
"I also prefer to eat meat on the bone I find it more tasty. "
No you're not blood thirsty, you just have good taste!
My daughter refuses to touch any type of meat that has even the smallest amount of bone in it, ham, chops, chicken, steak, ribs. That's ok with me, just leaves more for me, especially when it comes to ribs!
She does like bows. I've often wondered if it was symbolic or something. Could be worse, big frou frou flowers or tons of lacy ruffles. Oh wait, that would be my wedding dress, never mind.
But the 'beast' doesn't look too appetizing to me!
Stupendous Dose Ohio! Thanks for all your hard work.
I'd forgotten how pretty the architecture in Germany is. And I'm glad to see these pix of the Pres enjoying himself.
He looked tired to me on the footage of the news conference. Looks better in the pix though.
My husband and I had Boar at a Victorian Bed and Breakfast some years ago. It was delicious. The turkey soup was a meal in itself and the chocolate orange mousse, yum!
"Hey look ... they have Democrats over here too!"
OMG the picture sequence in 42 is hysterical. Wish I was better at creating dialog....something like
George: here honey, take the pen and sign
Laura: HEY, he gave it to ME
Merkel: I want it BAAAACK
Unidentified lady to Laura - HOw dare you try to take the pen!
But the 'beast' doesn't look too appetizing to me!
