Commentary: War on Iran Has Begun
The New York Sun ^ | July 13, 2006 | DAVID TWERSKY

Just last Friday, Iranian President Ahmadinejad warned that Israel's return to Gaza could lead to an "explosion" in the Islamic world that would target Israel and its supporters in the West.

"They should not let things reach a point where an explosion occurs in the Islamic world," ...

"If an explosion occurs, then it won't be limited to geographical boundaries. It will also burn all those who created [Israel] over the past 60 years," he said, implicitly referring to America and other Western nations who support Israel.

Years from now, the kidnapping of Corporal Gilad Shalit will be regarded like the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.

Against the backdrop of Kassam rocket fire on Israelis living within range of the Gaza Strip, it was the fate of Corporal Shalit that triggered the Israeli return to Gaza, which in turn brought the Hezbollah forces into the game.

Israel is fighting two Iranian proxies on two fronts.

It may, or may not, open a third front against a third Iranian proxy, Syria.

It is from the Syrian capital that Khaled Meshaal, the exiled leader of Hamas, has been laying down Palestinian Arab negotiating conditions.

Why listen to Mr. Meshaal? ...

Even more loyal to Tehran is the Hezbollah leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, whose forces yesterday kidnapped two more Israeli soldiers, opening up the second front.

Sheik Nasrallah is warning Israelis that they must not think Lebanon is unprotected as it was in 1981 and 1982 when Israeli forces came pouring across the border to silence Palestinian Arab guns.

Sheik Nasrallah's men are the recipients of tens of thousands of rockets — longer range and presumably more deadly than their roughly engineered younger Kassam cousins — that put central Israel in their range.

"This is an inflamatory (titled) editorial, not breaking news."

I agree.

Israel has stated that they're the victim of an act of war, but stopped short of saying they're at war with Lebanon. There are a few threads on officials public statements, but the letter to the UN below is probably the best to read. And yes, at this point in time Lebanon is clearly the belligerent party, not Syria or Iran, nations who are aiding them. Not in my opinion, but in the context of who Israel is at war with.

This is very well written and accurate. This is almost like watching a movie that you sort of know the ending to. It's clear how this will end. Among other things, Iran and likely Syria will have a regime change. Israel will not back down, and the ONLY thing America should do about it, is be right there beside her, helping if asked, supporting if not. This is a long time coming. The terrorists and their Islamio-Fascist terrorist supporting states like Iran and Syria started it, and now Israel will finish it. God bless them.

It may be an editorial, but I disagree its title is "inflammatory."

Israel itself says it is now at war.

I agree. I wouldn't say it jumped the shark, rather just slid in front of it.

By minutes.

Geographically Iran is already in checkmate.

How far can mad mullahs swim in the Caspian before cruise missiles sink them?

No. We're still in a time of grace. Daniel 8/Rev 6 comes before that. Seventy weeks of years takes a long time unfold before the "final curtain" if you will at Ezekial. Persia has is about to start thrashing about on it's neighbors and Europe, as Daniel 8 talks about. Couple years away from that starting though.

My word! Does President Bush play chess, too? ;) The world, for the most part, hasn't been watching the board being set up.

The first piece to be taken from the enemy was Afghanistan including the capture of all those old Soviet airbases including the one in Herat in close proxcimitry to eastern Iran.

Next came was Iraq, more airbases and ground troops right along Iran's oil rich Khuzestan Provence ho with discontent against the brutal mullah régime.

On the other side of Iraq's western border lies terrorist infested Syria and their Hizballah proxies with Israel to the south and American forces on the Iraqi-Syrian border. That phase is already underway with Israel's IDF on the all out offensive road which shall eventually led directly to Damascus and 'Dr'Assad, the terrorist's rent collector.

Our Navy controls Iran's southern oil sea-lanes in and out of the Persian Gulf. How geostrategically perfecto!

If President Bush had ever publicly declared the longer range plan to protect America via dismantling Jihad Inc, the radical Dems on the Hill would have gone pinko ballistic and loused up everything - as usually.

Nice map. Just like to point out that beside everyone of those American flags also flys another flag. It has a crescent moon on it.
