I think Israel would be pretty quick about telling the world that, if that was the case. They were none too slow telling us about the intel that the soldiers may be being moved to Iran, so why hide this?

Because then they would have to respond to Iran, and they might not want to at this point in time. This is very basic.

"Dennis left no doubt that he feels that Iran is behind the recent happenings in Israel, PA and now Lebanon."

Yes, Dennis found it too coincidental that on the day Iran is supposed to respond to the UN about its nuke intentions, Hizbollah launches is first strike against Israel.

From Time Magazine 2 weeks ago:

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1208916,00.html

Hizballah officials have publicly said that the group possesses some 13,000 rockets. Most of them are believed to be standard Katyushas, which have a 12-mile range. But, Israeli officials say Hizballah also maintains a supply of 220mm and even larger rockets from Iran, a "strategic threat" capable of hitting targets in Haifa — 20 miles inside Israel — and beyond. "They can target all of the north and go as far afield as Haifa, threatening one million inhabitants of Israel. It must be considered by Israel's leaders at all times," the Israeli military intelligence official says.

Israeli officials reportedly allege that the long-range rockets are under the direct command of officers of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, which Israel alleges has lately expanded its presence along the border. This charge, too, is denied by Hizballah, and has not been independently confirmed.

Like I said above, the only reason I can think of is that a unit acting on its own without orders from above fired the rocket. Hizbollah didn't want this, not at this stage at least, because of what Israel threatened to do if the longer range missiles were used.

Its kinda pointless for them to deny, the only reason they would deny it is out of fear.

IDF officials said that the missile that was fired to Haifa on Thursday evening has the similar characteristics of the Katyusha rockets that were fired on city of Carmiel, and therefore it was fired by the Hizbullah.

The IDF rejected the Hizbullah's denial of firing the missile saying that it was "An attempt to cover up the disaster that Hizbullah is causing Lebanon. (Hanan Greenberg)

"Just it is extremely important that we get this right. It could very well mean US forces would get involved."

Yea, you're right, the Pentagon bases all of their military planning on what goes on here on FP.

Billy Carter had some dealings with Omar Khaddafi in Libya.

Bob Hope had a line that "the main difference between Jimmy Carter and his brother was that Billy had a foreign policy."

WND - Lebanon: Syria out, Iran in
As Damascus claims it will exit, Tehran positions itself to take over
Posted: March 14, 2005

"Iran's presence in Lebanon is as old as the Iranian revolution," Dr. Walid Phares, secretary general of the World Lebanese Culture Union, told WND. "As early as 1980, Revolutionary Guards, with Syria's approval, established bases in the Bekaa Valley, and helped in the forming of Hezbollah. Iran maintains about 1,000 or more of these guards who are military assistants to Hezbollah."

Haaretz, March 6, 2005

Israel: Iranian Guard must withdraw from Lebanon along with Syrian troops

By Ze'ev Schiff, Haaretz Correspondent

Israel has informed a number of countries, including the United States and France, that the demand for the withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon, in keeping with the UN Security Council decision, will not be complete if it doesn't also lead to the departure of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members, who have been in Lebanon for a long time and are providing assistance to Hezbollah's military wing.

Israel's official position is that the Syrian forces deployed in Lebanon are not the only foreign army in that country. Despite the fact that the Syrian force is a large one, and includes numerous units and an extensive intelligence set-up, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards play a significant and negative military role in Lebanon - a role that undermines Lebanese sovereignty.

The individuals in question make up a group of Iranian military officers and experts numbering at least dozens.

Unlike the overt Syrian military presence, the members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard keep a low profile. Iranians questioned on this presence have said the group consists only of medical personnel who are there to provide medical logistics assistance and the like. This claim is refuted.

Reports determine that the Iranian officers and experts have provided operational assistance to Hezbollah, and have even patrolled along the Israeli border with Hezbollah operatives.

Furthermore, an Iranian-made drone, which, according to Hezbollah sources, was sent on a reconnaissance mission over Israeli territory, took photographs above Israeli territory before crashing on its way back to Lebanon.

The Iranian explanation after the incident was that, if they wanted to, they could send a UAV armed with explosives into Israel.

In addition, it is well known that the Iranian experts are involved in the array in southern Lebanon of long-range Fajr rockets that threaten Israel. These are Iranian-made rockets that were given to Hezbollah together with numerous other ordnance. Members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were involved in setting up Hezbollah's rocket formation.

This WAS NOT read off the wire...their reporter in Israel came on to CORRECT an earlier report..when she said it was from the Iranian Guard...why would she do that??

She said that they had earlier reported it was a ROCKET that hit Haifa from Hezbollah...but, it was NOT, it was a missle from the Iranian Guard...

Why would she do that?

The smoke/fog will clear. I guess if it were true, then by daybreak tomorrow middle eastern time, Teheran will have been bombed by Israel.

Because they would not be Israel if they did not bomb Teheran by morning, were it Iran actually firing such missiles from Lebanon onto Haifa.

Skepticism mode still /on.

Hizbullah fires first Iran missile into Israel

For the first time, Hizbullah has test-fired an Iranian medium-range rocket near the Lebanese border into Israel.

Lebanese sources said Hizbullah tested the Fajr-3 rocket on Aug. 25. The sources said three Fajr-3s were launched about six kilometers north of the Israeli-Lebanese border.

This was the first time Hizbullah fired a Fajr-3 rocket from Lebanon.

The sources said Hizbullah was provided with the Fajr-3 in 2001, but the rocket remained under the supervision of Iranian military personnel.
