Whoa!
Sure smacks of a 'softening up' procedure to me...knocking out critical bases and airstrips that could threaten a ground invasion...hmmmm. Get out the popcorn. Maybe that straw on the camel's back, finally broke.
Let's hope so.
Said if it was going to be bad in Israel, it was going to be "hell" in Lebanon.
The balloon has gone up.
I thought they cratered the runway yesterday. Heck, I didn't even know the Lebanese had an air force.
This match has been postponed long enough.
Step 1: remove the infrastructure.
Funny how little happens when nothing can move.
Kinda makes you wish Iran would do something stupid to the US so that we can commence bombing.
Said if it was going to be bad in Israel, it was going to be "hell" in Lebanon.
Now that IS saying a lot. Though most freepers are already doing so, I think it time we pray pretty hard!
From Global Security:
"Today, the Lebanese Air Force has no real fixed wing capability. The few fighter aircraft they possess are old and outdated planes that have no combat value. Instead the Air Force has invested in helicopters with limited firepower and survivability. These aircraft are also bound to fair weather conditions because of their limited capability. Their continued operations are still heavily concentrated on domestic operations, primarily narcotics trafficking and other criminal violations.
Lebanon received much of its modern equipment at a discount from the United States and continues to purchase new systems from the U.S. as well. France also represents a large portion of Lebanons imports. In 2000, there were only apprximately 800 active personnel in the Air Force."
Just had a thought. The Dow is already down triple digits in early trading and the volume is very very heavy, which means we could be in for a rough day on the economic front. Usually these guys at the NYSE have a pretty good nose and good sources for international news, which means they don't expect this thing to get any better in the short term. The problem with these quickly escalating situations is that one side or the other takes it a step too far (for instance if Hizbullah fired missiles into Hafia or god forbid Tel-Aviv and killed a bunch of people) and then the situation literally gets out of control and the next thing you know the whole middle east is involved. We are pretty close to that already with this bombing of Lebanses military bases next to the Syrian border and with the threats to take out the Damascus-Beruit road. Buckle up
Did you notice the tough guy standing to his left with the sunglasses on. I would want to mess with him.
Yesterday was a civilian airport. Today was a military air force base.
I think your thought is well reasoned and perhaps accurate, though I would have thought Hezbollah would have blinked by now...
Yeah.... and they all just looked pretty pissed off too ...
So what are the Lebanese going to use for "war power"?
Those folks nearing retirement might think about getting out of these markets if they ever rebound.
