I am one of many family members of soldiers who are presently at Walter Reed. We have been there now for six weeks, and with
many more to go. After a very hard week of being with my 21 yr. old son who has been deployed to Iraq twice, and came home with stage 4 right renal cell carcinoma, {advanced kidney cancer}, It has been so absolutely refreshing and quite frankly, very helpful in dealing with our pain, to see you all out there supporting our sons, daughters and parents, in our most trying of times. To see the protesters out there with their signs of "We support the troops, but not the war" and others saying "money for education, not war", breaks my heart as a parent of a soldier who is so very sick. But there you all are showing the support that should be evident all across the country, and I feel better, at least for a few moments. So from a parent of a soldier there, please keep up the support for all of them, as I will tell you again, it does make a difference to all of us with loved ones right behind those gates. Thank you for your continous support, and I will see all of you each and every friday evening that we will be there. God Bless All!

Pops, please give your son my appreciation. I can't be in DC as I live halfway across the country, but I do what I can here. I am so sorry for what's happening to you, and sorrier still that you have to look at anti-American's on top of it all. God bless you and your son and I pray that he is restored to full health.
Thank you so much for taking the time to sign on to FR and post your message.
Hi Dan,Your son is in my prayers(((Hugs)))Fatima
Prayers for your son, and for me to get to the FReep ; )
My heart goes out to you as your son battles such a horrid disease. It is so difficult for parents to see their children suffer. I know. May God give you strength for the journey and peace in the valleys.
Thank you for posting your appreciation, but we are the ones who appreciate the sacrifices of your son, his colleagues and all of their loved ones. I will keep your son and your family in my prayers. God bless.
We'll all pray for your son.
It's for families like yours that we stand outside Walter Reed every Friday. I look forward to meeting you in person, and your son when he's able.
Prayers for a full recovery.
I am so sorry to hear what has befallen your hero son, whom we also love and cherish. Praying with you, brave Dad and family of SPC Dustin Decol, for his recovery and strength for the family.
I am so glad the stalwart patriots who show their love in front of Walter Reed every week (and more) have been a comfort to you.
We'll also be praying for your daughter-in-law and her unborn child, due in a few months, as well as for you. You have my deepest respect.
Our collective thought's, heart's, and prayer's go out to all the young men and women serving so valiently and all their families worrying about them. To many of us on FR that have served before these young men and women in uniform today are our younger brother's and sister's -- WE WILL NOT ABANDON THEM as was done to so many on FR who are veterans of the Vietnam War.
To you, your son and all your family;
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
May God bless you and your treasured son.
Prayers for your family and my sincere thanks for your service to our country.
