It would be a surprise to us all, and not a pleasant one.

But fortunately, we don't have to worry about it. McCain would have to be the only one in the GOP Primaries to merit being selected as our nominee, thus requiring him to pick a running mate.

If it came down between Hillary Rotten and John McCain, I would get out of bed on election day and be ready to vote for John McCain by 6am.

They should at least reverse the ticket. Jeb Bush is the logical choice for next president. Eight years of him and he should replace McPain with Condi Rice in his second term. Then Condi can take the reins for eight years and hopefully another Bush will be ready by then.

Oh good grief! When will the McCainiacs give it up already!

McCain has a snoball's chance in HELL of even getting the nomination.

And .. since loyalty is a major trait of the Bush family .. I don't see Jeb ever aligning himself with McCain over anything - after the way McCain has treated big brother.

It appears that South Carolina is going to have the privilege of sending McCain packing once again. He can't win, or even come close to it, in a red southern state.

I don't think McCain will be on either end of the Republican Ticket.

McCain - anything would make me an independent, at least in the Presedential race. That man will not get my vote.

Jeb Bush suffers from an obvious difficulty: American dislike of dynasties. Possibly there is some way to get around this problem, because he would be a great president. W. was better than his father, and Jeb would be better than W. But yoking him with McCain would permanently wreck any slim chance of a presidential future he might have. It's a terrible idea, any way you look at it.

I like Jeb too. Much more so than W.

But McCain? He's the result of cross-pollination between Dean and Murtha.

It's all over when McCain gets the repub nod.

"He's crazy...loonier than the left!"

"I don't think that I want to give McCain the button...He likes fireworks!"

"Hope he runs a country better than he flies an airplane."

Etc. His loved media will turn on him like lions on Christians.

McCain?? I just can't see voting for him, sort of the 2nd coming of Ross Perot. Not really a firm liberal, but not a conservative. Just someone who is looking for attention.

Jeb? I would vote for him in the general election, but I think the Republican party is bigger than just a single family.
