The answer to the Jewish question is a resounding "no" on Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush - epicenter of a vicious political contest, even by Brooklyn standards.
"Some ethnic groups are trying to control the area," warned Jude Saint-Phard, a 67 year-old construction worker who is black.
"It's a master plan," he added. "It's the same plan that took Downtown Brooklyn from the blacks, that took Park Slope! Once they have the Congressional seat, they are pushing the blacks out of the area."
I ask which groups aim to push blacks from anywhere. Hasidic Jews?
Saint-Phard corrected me.
"Hasidic, non-Hasidic - he is just a Jew!" he said.
This conversation, I'm sorry to say, took place not in 1906, or 1966, but in 2006. As much as we smiled and joked, it turns out - in this man's eyes - we are enemies.
He is far from alone in feeling that way.
The racial and economic fault lines in this city are being walloped by a race for New York's 11th Congressional District, which extends from largely white Brooklyn Heights nearly to the eastern end of the borough.
Trying to win the seat held by retiring Rep. Mjor Owens are three black candidates: state Sen. Carl Andrews, Councilwoman Yvette Clark and Chris Owens, the incumbent's son.
And one white Jew.
The district was created in the 60s to achieve a black voice in Congress. So now, some black pols think it's OK to trash the white candidate, City Councilman David Yassky, for trying to snatch a seat they think belongs to person with black skin.
"Greedy," sneered the Rev. Al Sharpton about Yassky, playing on that old Jewish slur.

It's less tradition than it is an addiction. Just like a chemical substance abuse problem, Jews' voting for Democrats is self-destructive, yet on some level so psychologically satisfying that in many instances it's hard to quit.
Hence the strongly racist; for clarification to any offended Alabamans, or others.
You mean to tell me that they haven't yet referred to it as "the Jewish seat." (LOL)

I have personally been physically chased out of two black neighborhoods and a black-owned convienience store. Wonder if they'll do a story on that?

This situation highlights another political imponderable. Blacks by and large despise Jews, and yet liberal American Jews remain their most ardent supporters. They will suffer every insult, slur and desecration heaped upon them by Jesse, Al, Louis et al, and come back begging for more. It seems as if only the Israeli variety has the ability to recognize their enemies.
For the record, people shouldn't be Democrats.

not hard to understand...many Jews (just like many non-Jews) are social liberals, particularly regarding welfare programs.

They exist? In the black nabes in my area, all the convenience stores are owned Bangladeshis or Arabs.
I'm not arguing that "Democrats are all racists and antisemites." Nor am I arguing that racism and antisemitism are non-existent within the Republican Party. But I think it's fair to say that (1) on balance, the large majority of clearly racist and antisemitic public remarks made by public officials in, say, the last two decades, have been uttered or written by Democrats and (2) polling shows that Republicans as a group favor a US foreign policy protecting Israel's right to exist and flourish in significantly larger percentages than Democrats. (And yes, anti-Israeli views on the Middle East are a good proxy for antisemitic views in general.)
First, the amount of racism among members of the republican party is not relevant. We do not have to be lilly white in order to assess democratic racism. Racism in the democratic party is not excused by the existence of any racism anywhere else.
Also, we can accuse the democratic *party* of being racist, and institutionalizing racist practices without accusing *all* democrat *voters* of each being racist.
I would argue that is the case. It is unwritten (and written) policy to use race to further party goals. It is party policy to forment racial disharmoney. It is party policy to treat black Americans as second rate citizens while accusing republicans of conspiracies and plots to sicken and kill black Americans.
Not really, but we have been stuck with Sander Levin for years. It is more a dislike of him for being a liberal Rat, more than any thing else. The fact that he is Jewish really is a non-issue.
Not to mention the USSC seats that are reserved for various factions so as not to 'upset the balance' of the court, as if a snapshot of today is the natural order of things and to be preserved no matter what, in the manner of climate 'control.'
Funny thing, but preservation of the status quo used to be a mark of conservatism.
I suspect it is because many Jews are more liberals than Jewish.

From personal (family) experience, many mistakenly believe that this is the same Democratic Party as the Democratic Party of FDR, and it will take new generations (for whom FDR is merely another thief who reaches out of his grave to steal from every paycheck) to come along before the majority can understand that today's Democrats stand for almost everything that Jews abhor...
