http://speakernews.house.gov/library/deffront.asp ^ | TODAY | Rep. Hasteret

Posted on 07/10/2006 11:49:21 AM PDT by davidosborne

I just spoke with Speaker Hasteret's Office. I am told that he is waiting for "more hearings" one in Mid-July and another in Mid-August before appointing conferee's on the Immigration Bill..... I told him that the AMERICAN PEOPLE want the HOUSE bill not the SENATE bill !!!

NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL SPEAKER HASTERET's OFFICE and tell him to APPOINT CONFEREE's NOW !!!

David

IMHO the "hearings" accomplish nothing except to stall the conference.... IMHO Hastert should seize the momentum of support the American People have given to the HOUSE bill... stalling this or kicking it to the next congress is NOT ACCEPTABLE to me.... this is not a Democrat or Republican issue.... the Senate failed to get the message that we want ENFORCEMENT and BORDER SECURITY.. we can take up the other stuff later..

Let the hearings air out the things in the bill them proceed to a conference committee.

The "RUSH" is to effectively use the momentum to SUPPORT the House Bill...

We can support the House bill through the hearings. The House hearings is exposing the weaknesses in the Senate and bolstering the House bill. Speaker Hastert has the whole thing planned out
There is no rush.

When people rush there mistakes are made. With this type of legislation, there is no room for mistakes.

The best way to let the Speaker know "WE THE PEOPLE" stand behind the HOUSE bill is to keep calling !!! IMHO

I agree to keep on calling. But let the hold their hearings. You can already hear Senators squealing!!

Do you have any quotes from Senators "squealing".. Please post them.. I hope the SENATE gets the message loud and clear that they totaly blew it on this issue.. and the only way to save face is to get on board with the HOUSE bill...

... BTW I have yet to receive a single reply from my letter....

I think a STRONG Border Enforcement bill passing today will make enforcement a PRIORITY... it is not an issue to create "new laws" it is a statement of shifting PRIORITIES !!

Correct!

We have to keep the pressure on to insure that current laws are enforced.

Any time new laws are passed to correct a problem, the problem seems to get worse.

It is not a matter of making a "new law".. it is about making enforcement a PRIORITY.. we have the laws.. it is just that enforcement of same are NOT currently a National PRIORITY... this needs to change.. and the HOUSE version accomplishes this..
