London Mayor backs Cuban gay revolution

The Mayor of London has given his backing to reports of a gay revolution in Cuba.

Ken Livingstone, who yesterday joined gay charity Stonewall to launch an anti-homophobic bullying campaign in schools, said Cuba should look to fellow Latino’s in Venezuela where the capital Caracas has been declared a “homophobia free zone.”

He told PinkNews.co.uk: “The first time I went to Cuba in 1985, lots of people in the gay community said 'you've got to raise this issue.' The Cubans were completely honest about it and said: 'we made terrible mistakes in our early years and we regret it.’”

Mr Livingstone praised Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who has introduced anti-discrimination laws in the country and vowed to eradicate homophobia, he said: “There's still a way to go in Cuba, that's why what Hugo Chavez has done in Venezuela, where you've got all this Latin American culture of macho, the fact that he's had the courage to come out and make that stand to ban homophobia is a sign that you can change.

“I suspect that Hugo Chavez of Venezuela regularly meets with the Cubans, so the Cuban revolution will be taking note of the developments in Caracas where they've taken a really good stand on all of this. I think there was this real legacy in the old communist regime of thinking that homosexuality is a perversion that only comes with capitalism.

“When I went to Western Africa as a young man, I saw the same thing, they would say, 'there's no homosexuality in our country, its a Western disease.'“

A Venezuelan delegation attended last weekend’s EuroPride parade in London and spoke of their commitment to the LGBT community.

Cuban President Fidel Castro’s niece, Mariela Castro, is in charge of the government’s National Centre for Sex Education, from which she has promoted issues of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights, in stark contrast to country’s macho society and homosexual witch-hunts of the 1960s and 1970s.

Her department has previously campaigned for better AIDs prevention and promoted a soap opera involving a bisexual character and most recently pushed for a free gender transition law, which will be voted on in December.

She told the Reuters news agency that she is aiming to extend the Cuban Revolution to sexuality, "I want to bring the revolution's humanity to those aspects of life that it hasn't reached because of old prejudices."

Mr Livingstone used last weekend’s EuroPride rally to speak of his admiration for political revolutionary Che Guevara, who helped lead the Cuban Revolution in 1959, he told PinkNews.co.uk: “He would have been a leading supporter of LGBT rights and the congestion charge.”

"Pink Ken?"

Yup.
If I remember correctly, I seem to remember old Ken admitting to have had a sexual contact or two with men earlier in his life.
I seem to remember him saying that long ago when he was the Chairman of the GLC.

Meanwhile, Livingston's gay support never stopped him from strongly backing gay-hating Islamocist scum.
He even went as far as comparing the Islamofacist vermin to Pope John Paul:

"They're all the same to Ken
The Times reports today that Ken Livingston, who has stridently supported Sheik Qaradawi against all criticism of extremism (the evidence indicates that Qaradawi is not exactly al Qa’ida but hardly moderate either: he supports suicide bombing in Israel, is anti-Semitic and anti-gay), has restated his opinion in interesting terms. Not only, he says, is the Muslim figurehead a leading Islamic scholar calling for Islam to engage with the world and accept the changing role of women, but he is a reformer on the scale of the late Pope John XXIII."

Guess they will add that to the list of other "bullying campaigns" that are already going on in Castro's schools - the anti-freedom bullying campaign, the anti-capitalism bullying campaign, the anti-religion bullying campaign etc.

Those bullies never know when or where to stop, do they?

"Gay socialism, if that doesn't give you chills I don't know what will."

Marx, Engels and Lenin--all strongly anti-homosexual-- must be spinning in their graves on Livingstone/Chavez Gay brand of Socialism. Where on earth the future working masses will come from in the officially Gay Socialist state -:))) ? Cloning ? Artifician Insemination ? Or will heterosexual intercourse be permitted in their Hugo-Ken Socialist Paradise just for population reproduction ? -:))))

I imagine in such paradise there will be heterosexual intercourse/population reproduction Central Planning committee to force gay and lesbian comrades once in a while to perform heterosexual acts on each other to maintain populations -:)))) LOL !

P.S. This is how Gay Socialist Flag may look like -:)))

Cuba is a communist country, with a repressive dictator who is known to assasinate his foes. Thousands of people have risked everything to escape his country in rickety boats. Kinda tough to feel gay under those circumstances.

Venezuela, although not as bad as Cuba, also lives under the boot of a fascist/socialist leader. And don't get me going on the climate. I think I'd be downright depressed in either country.

London, on the other hand, has an asshole for a mayor but is a generally pleasing city. On my visits there, I have genuinely enjoyed myself and I find the citizens to be very friendly. Although I feel most gay when I am at home playing with my kids and dog, I think I could be in very high spirits living in London.

Cuba's AIDS Quarantine Center Called 'Frightening'

LOS ANGELES TIMES (LT) - FRIDAY November 4, 1988

Victor F. Zonana; Times Staff Writer

A member of the first U.S. delegation to visit Cuba's quarantine center for people infected with the AIDS-causing human immunodeficiency virus Thursday described the detention facility as "pleasant" but "frightening in its implications." The first detailed picture of what the Cuban government calls its "sanitarium" for all identified HIV carriers was painted by Ronald Bayer, associate professor at Columbia University's School of Public Health, in an interview with The Times.

Cuba is the only nation in the world that has mandated universal HIV testing and enforced isolation of all virus carriers. Bayer said he was told by Cuban health officials that one-third of the nation's 10.2 million people have been tested so far and that 240 Cubans--171 men and 69 women--have been placed in the camp, where they are required to spend the rest of their lives. They are removed from their jobs but continue to be paid.

"We were shown groups of nondescript apartments that looked like typical Cuban suburban housing," Bayer said. "It was neither barracks-like nor dungeon-like, although I have to assume we were shown the best. It was impossible to tell whether the complex was surrounded by a wall or a fence.

"But even if it all looked as good as what we saw, it does not resolve the moral justification of incarceration based on supposed future behavior," said Bayer, a medical ethicist who has long specialized in AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

Yes. The 'gay community" in the US and ultra tolerant Europe never seem to discuss the forced quarantine of AIDS carriers in Cuba.

Heh, heh!

Seriously, the Left never criticizes Castro for isolating homosexuals with AIDS (their favorite constituency) on island gulags. After all, Cuba has free health care and education, far superior to anything we imperialistas gringos can offer.

Actually, Fidel may be right about the gay leper colonies.
