Yes, we all need iron sharpening iron relationships in The Body.

Unfortunately, hereon, the vast opportunities for that tend to end up with lots of sermons to the various choirs from their own choir folks . . . and lots of vigorous rock throwing between choirs.

Interesting doc on China. Thanks.

Got you down for the ping list.

That's oh so true...love the discernment we are blessed with. That helps tons along with those confirmations we are also blessed with.

Until a thing is confirmed to ME...it goes on my spiritual shelf. ;o) I have found this to be oh so important...along with those checks we get in our spirits. Isn't Our Lord GREAT!!! He gives us lots of tools/gifts to help us along that journey.

I don't know how successful the SO Korean super churches have been at beaming TV and radio messages into No K but I suspect God has done more there, than we have imagined.

Hey here's a subject we can agree on and be civil, I'll have to agree TV and radio messages are way up there on my list of best ways to evangelize. I definitely believe in doing it all over the world, on the boarders of those countries that do not allow the gospel to be preached.

Another method of evangelism that is coming to light is sermons that can be downloaded. Many months ago on FR I learned that a lot of Church web sites are being excessed by foreigners who can't read english but understand it, they are downloading the sermons and listening to the sermons on their computers. This has shock some churches to find out that most of the hits on their church web sites are from other countries. The Internet is a great way to go.

AMEN!

AND PRAISE GOD FOR THAT!

And PTL for the faithfulness of many of His servants to preach solid Biblical material.

Or are you trying to tell me that any researcher that doesn't pass your vetting is not worth paying any attention to?

Or conversely, you are always correct and any opposing views must be done away with. That fits really well with the PDL model.

To: The Lumster; All

I have come very late to this thread, but my two cents worth is: without regard to Mr Warren's own version of Christian theology, but understanding North Korea as well as I do and having followed Mr Warren's ministerial career, I see his trip as reflecting either supreme, naive ignorance, or supreme arrogance and sense of self-importance or all of the above.

His trip will be used as a propaganda tool by the dictator: "see, even these nice Christian preachers can talk to us bu that nasty Bush won't". In fact, there should be little doubt that the dictator approved the trip because he already knew how he would control it and insure it came across in his favor to his people.

"Again, we have no idea---and will have no idea until Jesus comes---of the tremendous impact Billy Graham's crusades had in Soviet Russia, all as part of undermining that evil empire."

I believe you should have said: ".......impact Billy Graham's crusades MIGHT HAVE had in Soviet Russia....." and I cannot say that we have seen alot of evidence - yet.

Where does Rick Warren, ever, ONCE say that?

http://www.purposedriven.com/en-US/PEACE/PEACE_Plan.htm

There is no organization or government that can effectively eradicate these giants. The only successful solution is the global Church of Jesus Christ.

From http://www.thepeaceplan.com/

P.E.A.C.E. can empower and equip each member of a local church to address these global giants in a holistic manner throughout their local community (Jerusalem), nearby communities (Judea), regional area crossing cultural barriers (Samaria), and globally (to the entire world). T his will be done by carrying out sustainable and reproducible actions of P.E.A.C.E.

P.E.A.C.E. is not a church program for a few "specialists." The P.E.A.C.E. Plan is a lay movement, designed to mobilize average church members to do normal tasks that can change the world.

P.E.A.C.E. is a grassroots church to church strategy, helping churches around the world to make a difference together. Through P.E.A.C.E., local congregations will become the heroes. Because of their location, motivation, longevity, and credibility, local churches are the only grassroots organization that can effectively address the five evil giants.

I dunno but to me that sounds like he thinks his plan can make churches change the world. And what is this, making the local congregation the hero? Just who IS supposed to be the "hero?" Is any man or group of humans supposed to be anyone's hero?

He's got BIG plans...

Rick Warren on Nightline 2-6-2006

Most people set their goals too small and they try to achieve them too quickly. Set your goals high and spend the rest of your life trying to achieve them.

Me, I'll settle for the mediocre goal of giving a glass of water to one of these 'little ones' that have been dragged half to death behind the purpose driven runaway horse.

To the man who invested the money and gained five talents, the good master gave five more. To him who "thought small," and gained only one talent, he only got one talent. Guess it depends on whether you think big or not.

RW is absolutely right, though, in that governments can never bring peace. Only the Prince of Peace.And I think Jesus thought His church could change the world. That's the impression I got, anyway.

I'm still confused. :-) I was LOL-ing in confusion.

Perhaps this will clear it up:

BeginExecuteNonQuery: Initiates the asynchronous execution of the Transact-SQL statement or stored procedure that is described by this SqlCommand, generally executing commands such as INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, and SET statements. Each call to BeginExecuteNonQuery must be paired with a call to EndExecuteNonQuery which finishes the operation, typically on a separate thread.

BeginExecuteReader: Initiates the asynchronous execution of the Transact-SQL statement or stored procedure that is described by this SqlCommand and retrieves one or more results sets from the server. Each call to BeginExecuteReader must be paired with a call to EndExecuteReader which finishes the operation, typically on a separate thread.

BeginExecuteXmlReader: Initiates the asynchronous execution of the Transact-SQL statement or stored procedure that is described by this SqlCommand. Each call to BeginExecuteXmlReader must be paired with a call to EndExecuteXmlReader, which finishes the operation, typically on a separate thread, and returns an XmlReader object.

ExecuteReader: Executes commands that return rows. For increased performance, ExecuteReader invokes commands using the Transact-SQL sp_executesql system stored procedure. Therefore, ExecuteReader might not have the effect that you want if used to execute commands such as Transact-SQL SET statements.

ExecuteNonQuery: Executes commands such as Transact-SQL INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, and SET statements.

ExecuteScalar : Retrieves a single value (for example, an aggregate value) from a database.

ExecuteXmlReader : Sends the CommandText to the Connection and builds an XmlReader object.

Bear in mind, however, that the ADO.NET DataSet is a memory-resident representation of data that provides a consistent relational programming model independent of the data source. The DataSet represents a complete set of data including tables, constraints, and relationships among the tables. Because the DataSet is independent of the data source, a DataSet can include data local to the application, as well as data from multiple data sources. Interaction with existing data sources is controlled through the DataAdapter.

The SelectCommand property of the DataAdapter is a Command object that retrieves data from the data source. The InsertCommand, UpdateCommand, and DeleteCommand properties of the DataAdapter are Command objects that manage updates to the data in the data source according to modifications made to the data in the DataSet. These properties are covered in more detail in Updating Data Sources with DataAdapters.

The Fill method of the DataAdapter is used to populate a DataSet with the results of the SelectCommand of the DataAdapter. Fill takes as its arguments a DataSet to be populated, and a DataTable object, or the name of the DataTable to be filled with the rows returned from the SelectCommand.

The Fill method uses the DataReader object implicitly to return the column names and types used to create the tables in the DataSet, as well as the data to populate the rows of the tables in the DataSet. Tables and columns are only created if they do not already exist; otherwise Fill uses the existing DataSet schema. Column types are created as .NET Framework types according to the tables in Mapping .NET Data Provider Data Types to .NET Framework Data Types. Primary keys are not created unless they exist in the data source and DataAdapter.MissingSchemaAction is set to MissingSchemaAction.AddWithKey. If Fill finds that a primary key exists for a table, it will overwrite data in the DataSet with data from the data source for rows where the primary key column values match those of the row returned from the data source. If no primary key is found, the data is appended to the tables in the DataSet. Fill uses any mappings that may exist when populating the DataSet (see Setting Up DataTable and DataColumn Mappings).

Indeed. In fact,

private static void ReadOrderData(string connectionString)
{
    string queryString =
        "SELECT OrderID, CustomerID FROM dbo.Orders;";
    using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(
               connectionString))
    {
        SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(
            queryString, connection);
        connection.Open();
        SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader();
        try
        {
            while (reader.Read())
            {
                Console.WriteLine(String.Format("{0}, {1}",
                    reader[0], reader[1]));
            }
        }
        finally
        {
            // Always call Close when done reading.
            reader.Close();
        }
    }
}
