MEXICO: THE OFFICIAL PARTY REJECTS A RECOUNT OF ALL ELECTION VOTES

"Nosotros estamos dispuestos a que se abran los paquetes en aquellos casos en los que se acredite la excepción prevista en la ley, que es básicamente que no coincide el resultado en el acta (de un partido), con el acta que tiene en su poder el consejo distrital", dijo el vocero a W Radio.

No. I have no idea which Mexican states the votes are coming from or which precincts have been counted. There was a great disparity between the pro-PAN north and pro-PRD south.

Thanks again. Speaking from relative ignorance, I had previously thought the bulk of the population, always excepting D.F., was in the Northern part, thus presenting PAN with a fairly solid demographic advantage.

There's a lot of PRD-leaning population outside of Mexico City proper in Mexico State, a decent turnout in Obrabor's home state of Tabasco, and a decent-sized pro-PRD population in Oaxaca, and Chiapas. Veracruz, which was fairly evenly divided, is also in the south.

Yesterday it was votes from some of the more remote areas that put Calderon over the top, and those, also, did not come in until fairly late.
