As we celebrate the 230th birthday of the United States of America, our president joined the ideological, and perhaps biological, descendants of those who fought to give us our freedom by creating this new nation. The president went to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to speak to and eat with the troops and their families (who gave him a birthday cake).
He will return to the White House for a July 4th celebration with family and friends. That will also serve as a birthday party for the President.

It was about 95 degrees and 90% humidity, and that was on the piedmont.
I'm sure it was even wetter on the coast!
Is it just me, or do special forces members look younger and younger. And incredibly competent.
We sat behind a young marine and his family at our town's fireworks tonight. It was an honor to shake his hand and thank him. :-)

LOL! My midwest reserve, disappeared after seeing these commies he!! bent on destroying my country!
I heard Squeegee yelling out a bunch of lies about people being arrested today for not doing anything at all. I yelled for him to stop lying and repeatedly told how they hold workshops teaching their recruits how to get arrested. He tried to tell me to shut up, but I just kept saying, "Squeegee, stop the lying!" He gave up and walked away. LOL!

Well, I can't resist chiming in, even though others have already responded. From the web page:
ask.yahoo.com: What exactly is a short order cook?:
On a web page from the California Employment Development Department, we learned that short order cooks, also called grill or line cooks, make "simple, fast-cooking meals and snacks."
At the Bureau of Labor Statistics web site, we learned the difference between various types of chefs. Typically, restaurant chefs prepare a wider variety of meals and work on orders individually. Short order cooks, on the other hand, work in coffee shops or family restaurants, places that emphasize quick service, and usually fix a more limited range of entrees, working on several orders at a time.
A final stop at another occupational web site shed some light on the job title, explaining that short order cooks "prepare and cook to order a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time." Ah ha!
It's not an indication of how it is served, but how it is prepared. I suspect that in a military cafeteria, the "Short Order" line would actually be the
slow line. You could get made to order food such as a hamburger on the "Short Order" line, or go with the already prepared foods in the main cafeteria line.

We sat behind a young marine and his family at our town's fireworks tonight. It was an honor to shake his hand and thank him. What a special Independence day for you! I just finished watching the President speak to the troops. As is normal for him, he choked a couple times as he thanked them for their courage and commitment.

In all the pics from Graceland, Lisa Marie seems friendly, is smiling and glad that the president was there. Priscilla, on the other hand, appeared like someone on druges--stiff and spaced out. Did she smile at all?

Yes in her own way in couple of photos she is smiling.
I suspect she is not one of those people who really puts their head back and laughs with gusto.
Here is the nearest to it but in several she smiling in her own way.

Just got in ! *no NOT a hot date!!! *
missed all that. was at neighbors with his/my pets (he is out of town)..keeping them calm in what would appear to be a war zone if it were not Rural/suburban NE Ohio
I like the pretty fireworks.. not necessarily the noisy ones.. but I guess in reflection that the noisy ones are liken to the bombs & wars that secured & maintained our FReedom.
With every annoying firework, we can thank God that patriots paid the price & did the hard jobs for us to be where we are now.

I have noted that many with extensive facial plastic surgery have a hard time with facial expressions.
I recall her years ago able to give broad grins!
