Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said his group reserved the right to fight the United States on its land and warned Washington and the world community against sending forces to Somalia, according to an Internet audio tape.

"We will fight its (U.S.) soldiers on the land of Somalia ... and we reserve the right to punish it on its land and anywhere possible," said the speaker, who sounded like the Saudi-born militant.

"We warn all of the countries in the world not to respond to America by sending international troops to Somalia," he said of the African nation where Islamists' power is rising.

In a letter to the editor of the Berlin daily Der Tagesspiegel a Lebanese Shia explains how after Israel’s withdrawal from South Lebanon, Hezbollah stored rockets in bunkers in his town and built a school and residence over it.

I lived until 2002 in a small southern village near Mardshajun that is inhabited by a majority of Shias like me. After Israel left Lebanon, it did not take long for Hezbollah to have the say in our town and all other towns. Received as successful resistance fighters, they appeared armed to the teeth and dug rocket depots in bunkers in our town as well. The social work of the Party of God consisted in building a school and a residence over these bunkers! A local sheikh explained to me laughing that the Jews would lose in any event because the rockets would either be fired at them or if they attacked the rocket depots, they would be condemned by world opinion on account of the dead civilians. These people do not care about the Lebanese population, they use them as shields, and, once dead, as propaganda. As long as they continue existing there, there will be no tranquility and peace.

24-hour forecast

Hezbollah will continue to flood the media with its ‘evidence’ of a massacre at Qana, all the while continuing its rocket attacks. There is still a concern regarding the potential use of long range rockets. I don’t foresee any significant events in the near future. There is a greater degree of uncertainty on the longer term because I’m not sure as to what changes in operations might occur in the IDF’s strategy pending the political infighting in the Israeli cabinet. Olmert has been characterized as a political ‘hack’, and how he handles this will finally define him one way or the other.

Qana Background
Since the beginning of the present conflict, when Hezbollah crossed the Israeli-Lebanese border and kidnapped two soldiers, Qana has served as a shelter for escaping terrorists and a center of rocket attacks against Israel. Over 130 rockets have been launched from the vicinity of the village towards northern Israel. More than 50 rockets were launched from within the village itself. A Hezbollah regional headquarters, weapons depot and logistic sites were also reportedly located in Qana.

Expanded Ground Operations

IDF claims 2/3rds of Hezbollah LR Rockets destroyed
IDF generals have claimed that about 2/3 of the long range rockets (Zelzal) Hezbollah claims to have are now destroyed. These rockets have the capability to reach Tel Aviv and Jerusalem from launch sited in the Bekaah valley. However, the extent of damage is hard to confirm without more detailed intelligence. Iraq: Gunman Kidnap 25 In Baghdad Say Police

Baghdad, 31 July (AKI) - Gunmen disguised as members of Iraq's security forces on Monday kidnapped 25 people from an office in the centre of the capital, Baghdad, police said.
