IRAN PLANNED HIZBULLAH STRIKE
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iran spent more than six months training and planning Hizbullah to prepare for its current war with Israel.
Western intelligence sources said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps held a series of exercises with Hizbullah on the use of new weapons and techniques. The sources said IRGC also prepared arsenals of medium-range rockets and missiles in the Bekaa Valley and Syria to sustain any war with Israel.
"Iran's IRGC planned this war carefully throughout 2006," an intelligence source who monitors Iran said. "IRGC sent weapons and hundreds of volunteers through Damascus in a war designed to contain several stages."
The sources said Western intelligence agencies detected a high level of IRGC-Hizbullah coordination as early as April 2006. They said the Hizbullah conflict was planned in cooperation with Damascus, which agreed to the emergency deployment of Iranian troops in Syria.

Thailand: jihadists gun down teacher in front of students

BANGKOK - Four suspected Muslim militants on Monday gunned down a teacher in front of a classroom filled with his terrified students, radio reports said.
Prasarn Makchu, 48, died with a chalk still in his hand, said Thai Radio 98.
The assailants entered the Ban Muaraeng school in Narathiwat province, 780 kilometres south of Bangkok, at 11:00 a.m. and shot Prasarn in the head and chest with their pistols before fleeing....
Public school teachers are being increasingly targetted by separatists in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces as part of their terrorist tactics to drive a wedge between the majority Muslim population and the Bangkok-based public administration.
In May, Muslim villagers kidnapped and beat up two female teachers in Narathiwat, leaving one in a coma from which she has yet to awake.
Local education authorities decided to close 100 of the 199 schools in the province following the incident, although most have now been reopened. Narathiwat is part of Thailand’s majority Muslim “deep South,” comprising the country’s three southernmost provinces that border Malaysia and once made up the independent Islamic sultanate of Pattani.
More than 1,300 people have died in clashes, ambushes, shootings, explosions and beheadings in the deep South since January 2004, when the area’s long-simmering separatist struggle started to escalate.

A senior member of Muqtada al-Sadr's Iraqi Shi'ite militia, the Mahdi Army, says the group is forming a squadron of up to 1,500 elite fighters to go to Lebanon.
The plan reflects the potential of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah to strengthen radical elements in Iraq and neighboring countries and to draw other regional players into the Lebanon conflict.
"We are choosing the men right now," said Abu Mujtaba, who works in the loosely organized following of radical Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. "We are preparing the right men for the job."

Montana, 24 July (AKI) - International counter-terrorism experts will gather on Tuesday in the southwestern Bulgarian city of Montana for a joint training programme in which teams from central and South-eastern Europe will combat simulated terrorist attacks on a local hotel and chemical plants, Bugaria's disaster management ministry announced on Monday, quoted by the Sofia News Agency.
The joint anti-terror training programme will involve teams from Bugaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia - all NATO members - and aims to set up preventive measures and to train the teams to react effectively to an attack, the Sofia News Agency reports. NATO and EU representatives are taking part as observers.

Is a New Islamic War Brewing in Africa?
As war rages in the Middle East, concerns are growing about the Horn of Africa, where tensions are on the rise between Islamic fundamentalists in Somalia and their neighbors in Ethiopia.
When Islamic clerics captured Somalia’s capital Mogadishu last month, it seemed to offer some hope for peace in the war-torn Horn of Africa country. Somalia has had no central government for 15 years, and the country was a patchwork of fiefdoms run by murderous warlords. The rise of the Islamic Courts Union worried the U.S., which says the group has ties to Al-Qaeda and harbors known terrorists, but others saw opportunity: perhaps the Islamists could finally end the bloodshed and bring a functioning government to Somalia.

TIRANA (AP)--The Albanian government has frozen another bank account belonging to a businessman accused by U.S. authorities of receiving money from Osama bin Laden to set up a radical Islamic terrorist network in Albania.
The finance ministry said Sunday that it has also frozen bank accounts and seized property belonging to five Islamic charities operating in the country.

Bin Laden saw accused 'pledge jihad'

ONE of 13 Melbourne men accused of being members of a terrorist group pledged in the presence of Osama bin Laden to commit jihad or holy war, a court has been told.
Shane Kent, 29, of Meadow Heights, attended the Al Farooq training camp where he underwent weapons and explosives training, Crown prosecutor Mark Dean SC told the first day of the men's committal hearing in the Victorian County Court today.
Mr Dean said a witness who attended the same camp would give evidence at the hearing that he saw Kent at the camp, and that on three occasions bin Laden visited the camp when they were there.
He would tell the court that Kent committed himself to jihad in the presence of the al-Qaeda leader, Mr Dean told the hearing....

Islamic cleric sought to "kill 1000" to "please Allah"
Another bloodthirsty Islamic cleric. One would think that clerics, at very least, would know that Islam teaches peace if it really does, or that the many, many clerics who have been arrested for violent offenses would show Western analysts that maybe there is more they should examine about The Religion of Peace. No one seems ever to come to either realization.

MELBOURNE Islamic cleric Abdul Nacer Benbrika allegedly wanted to kill 1000 Australians to "please Allah" and to force the Howard Government to withdraw troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
"If we kill, we kill here 1000," Mr Benbrika allegedly said in a conversation covertly taped by police.
"Because if you get large numbers here, the Government will listen."

US embassy put on terror alert(in New Delhi, India)

NEW DELHI: The next few days are likely to be very tense for the US embassy here. For a top IB official has sent a letter to security agencies with a chilling message the American embassy is expected to be targetted any time between now and July 30 by terrorists owing allegiance to an Iranian terror group.
This intelligence input has already sent security agencies scampering to plug real or imagined weaknesses in the security ring around the mission. Sources revealed on Monday that the input was received early last week and has been circulated among all security agencies in Delhi, including the police and paramilitary forces.
"The US embassy has been on an extremely high state of alert and things will remain the same for the next few days. The input has even identified one of the men likely to participate in the attack and efforts are on to establish his presence," said a source.
According to the report, the attack is likely to be carried out by a group of 20 terrorists, some of whom have been part of terror attacks in other parts of the world. This group is headed by a terrorist named Jawad Shah Shanas.
The report also says that these 20 men are of Iranian, Afghan and Kashmiri descent and have been in Delhi since June. They are armed with sophisticated weapons and could cause major damage.
"The threat is that they would launch an all-out assault in the nature of a 'fidayeen' attack. The security review was done in keeping with this possibility," said the official. According to the input, the Iranians in the group of 20 are associated with a Iran terror group comprising terrorists who earlier backed Saddam Hussein.
The alert has also left many wondering if international terrorist groups are trying to join hands with Kashmir terror groups. The letter specifically mentions that people of Kashmiri descent are expected to help the Iranians and Afghans carry out the attack.
This is the first real threat input for the US embassy since the closure of some of embassy offices in August last year because of security concerns. It was then said that some al-Qaida militants arrested in Pakistan had revealed that the US embassy in India was likely to be targeted soon.
