Actually it is now the Times 3 and Bush 0. The White House actually invited journalists from the Slimes and the Washington Post. I am getting sick of the President's not taking a stronger stand against these defiant A-holes. Enough of this mr. nice guy crap Mr. President!

If the Administration prosecutes, the NY Times will clamor that this is a dictatorial, secretive Administration that is trying to spy on people and take away their freedom and privacy and abolish the freedom of the press. They will try to redirect the issue.

On the other hand, Bush doesn't appear to be one to duck a fight - he just picks his battles. I'm hoping that from now until the November elections the Administration will try to gain as much political traction as they can from what happened and then - particularly if they hold on to Congress - they'll pursue the issue legally. Hope.

Everyone needs to calm the F down on this issue.

President Bush is doing the right thing here by giving the Slimes enough rope to hang themselves with. Unfortunately, public opinion is NOT on the President's side here, a lot of people still view the Times as this heroic institution going up against Nixon II.

Bush and the DOJ right now are evaluating the options and letting the facts slowly but surely come out on this rather than knee-jerking and making a spectacle of this. Let the wheels of justice do their grinding, for God's sake.

The answer so far is that the Bushites are going to do nothing other than fulminate and pound the Post and Times.

Only 2 more years left of the wasp Skull&Bones cabal.

The leftist media had better watch out when President Giuliani comes to town.

How more irrelevant can Patsy Buchanan get?

Want to talk turkey Patsy?

I'd say the score is Bush 2, Buchanan 0.

You couldn't win an election if your life depended on it.

The person or persons who leaked this info to the papers should be in jail. This administration has some real enemies out there and they should be exposed and prosecuted if possible.

Maybe Pat (and everyone else) should start looking at this issue objectively and admit that there are only two possibilities here:

A. The GOP leaders who have claimed that the New York Times has broken the law are totally full of sh!t.

B. The Bush administration knows damn well that the Times has broken the law but has simply refused to uphold the law.

I'm just about 100% certain that (A) is the correct answer here -- and the real turning point for me came last weekend when Rep. Peter King started showing up all over the media to voice his complaints over the "crimes" committed by the New York Times. If there was any truth to this accusation, the GOP never would have had such a dopey, mediocre spokesman to make the point on its behalf.

Mr. Buchanan is simply tiresome. A case with carefully researched evidence has to be made and that doesn't happen in a week.

Pat, instead of being part of the solution, you are part of the problem, as usual. Perhaps the President ought to say a few things about some of your remarks as well.

It may not have been criminal, but it was totally reprehensible.

The biggest surprise on this thread is the out-and-out war on Pat Buchanon! He was right about the immigration mess years ago and y'all slammed him then, he is right on this issue and y'all are slamming him again.

Bush is weak and will never stand up to the NY Times. The conservative Prime-Minister of Canada stood up to them, but Bush won't even yank the White House press credentials. I am so tired of Bush and his weaklings and the Bushbots here that won't stand up to Bush and will kill the messenger instead.
