Priest: Buffett is 'Dr. Mengele of philanthropists'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Warren Buffett's new philanthropic alliance with fellow billionaire Bill Gates won widespread praise this week, but anti-abortion activists did not join in, instead assailing the two donors for their longtime support of Planned Parenthood and international birth-control programs.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to which Buffett has pledged the bulk of his $44-billion fortune, devotes the vast majority of its funding to combating disease and poverty in developing countries. Less than 1 percent has gone to Planned Parenthood over the years. And the Gates Foundation does not permit its gifts to Planned Parenthood to be used for abortion services.

"The merger of Gates and Buffett may spell doom for the families of the developing world," said the Rev. Thomas Euteneuer, a Roman Catholic priest who is president of Human Life International.

Referring to Josef Mengele, the infamous Nazi death camp doctor, Euteneuer said Buffett "will be known as the Dr. Mengele of philanthropy unless he repents."

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America issued statements praising Buffett and Gates for their generosity. Gloria Feldt, a former Planned Parenthood president, said she was appalled by the harsh attacks on them.

"What an outrage that these people have

*All* lefties?

Richard Branson and John Carmack are both funding, out of their own pockets, private manned spacecraft. Robert Heinlein and Larry Niven are considered by many in the sci-fi community to be somewhere to the right of J. Edgar Hoover. Penn Jillette regualrly tears the Left a new one on his Showtime show. Ayn Rand *scares* lefties. And while I'm not aware of pat Tillman's politices, he gave up a pro football career to go kill the enemy. Not the action of a lefty.

There's nothing good about atheists.

Actually, it IS very good news that Buffet gave his money to the Gates Foundation rather than his own wife's. His own wife is a huge promoter of abortion. Gates' is rather innocuous in comparison

I'm sorry, but Penn Jillette is borderline Stalinist, hysterically Republican-hating. I can hardly imagine someone more left-wing. If he hates liberals, it's because they're not extreme enough for him.

Heinlein is considered right-wing by left-wingers who mistakenly associate nazism with the right.

I'll give you Ayn Rand is right-wing as all hell, and Pat Tillman is a patriot.

I should be more careful... Heinlein is *not* a Nazi. He just reminds peaceniks of Nazis.

Evidence?

Apparently you've never seen his show "BS!" on Showtime. I heartily recommend it. Libtards don't.

"You should see the state of the art church she attends in Bellevue WA. They serve low-carb communion wafers..."

That's low gluten not low carb, and it's because some people are allergic to wheat or have an autoimmune disease called celiac. Most churches allow a gluten free wafer, but the Catholic church demands that the host have some wheat in it, even if it makes a person sick. This low-gluten host has been approved by the church.

You ought to find out what you're talking about before you make fun of something.

They also think that condums are the cure for AIDs, despite all evidence to the contrary. One field clinic is worth more than all the money spent to distribute condoms in Africa.

They don't have to, any money automatically frees up money to be used for those purposes.

Precisely.

Money is fungible.

There's so much pouting on these Buffett threads about how he's leaving his money. People are ignoring the idea (which otherwise they would support) that a person should be able to leave his money the way he chooses, because they don't happen to like the issues involved. Leave your own money as you wish.

And at least learn how to spell the name of the person you're criticizing - it's not "buffet", like Sunday brunch.

(And yes, in the interest of full disclosure, Warren Buffett has been very, very good to my family in our 35 years as Berkshire Hathaway investors).

Why would you do that? It is only a measely $440,000,000.00 and with inflation what it is today you can barely buy a decent latte with that!

Exactly. Studies have shown that in third-world countries where sex-ed and condoms are spread around, AIDS rates increase drastically. But in the Phillipines, where Catholic authorities have succeeded in pushing abstinence, the AIDS rate has declined, although when AIDS first appeared it was as bad in the Phillipines as in Africa.

Seems unlikely, given the episodes:

Season 1 (2003)
"Talking to the Dead"
"Alternative Medicine"
"Alien Abductions"
"End of the World"
"Second Hand Smoke" / "Baby Bullshit" (educational products for babies)
"Sex, Sex, Sex" (dealing with penis enlargement, breast enlargement, aphrodisiacs)
"Feng Shui" / "Bottled Water"
"Creationism"
"Self-Helpless"
"ESP"
"Eat This!" (dieting / genetically modified food)
"Ouija Boards" / "Near-death Experiences"
"Environmental Hysteria"
[edit]

Season 2 (2004)
"P.E.T.A." (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization)
"Safety Hysteria"
"The Business of Love"
"War on Drugs"
"Recycling"
"The Bible"
"Yoga, Tantric Sex, Etc." (New Age culture)
"Fountain of Youth" (life extension and cosmetic surgery)
"Death, Inc."
"Profanity"
"12-Stepping"
"Exercise vs. Genetics"
"Hypnosis"
[edit]

Season 3 (2005)
The third season of the series began on April 25, 2005.

"Circumcision" (against)
"Family Values" (argument that the "traditional family" is not traditional in America)
"Conspiracy Theories"
"Life Coaching"
"Holier Than Thou" (a critical view of Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and the Dalai Lama)
"College" (opposition to political correctness)
"Big Brother" (vague position with criticism of both the paranoid and the government)
"Hair" (opposition to fashion & fad)
"Gun Control" (against)
"Ghostbusters"
"Endangered Species" (about the U.S. Endangered Species Act)
"Signs From Heaven"
"The Best" (about the pursuit of needless luxury)
[edit]

Season 4 (2006)
The fourth season of the series began on April 3, 2006.

"The Boy Scouts" (against their discrimination against gays and atheists)
"Prostitution" (pro-legalization)
"The Death Penalty" (against)
"Cryptozoology" (concerning the mythological creatures such as Big Foot and the Loch Ness monster)
"Ground Zero" and the dragging of feet in rebuilding and lack of (family approved) memorials.
"Pet Love" (concerns people spoiling pets with diamond dog collars, expensive food, et cetera)
"Reparations" (mostly against)
"Manners" (pro rational manners that make sense, against arbitrary manners)
"Numbers" (how they can be used to deceive polls and how you can be scammed)
"Abstinence" (against abstinence-only education)

Yes, they take on some topics favored by some "conservatives." But mostly they go after the favorite fantasies of whacko leftists.

Testimony from a fellow-cyclist's wife that Lance admittedly used steroids and other performance enhancing drugs.

He 'beats' cancer and says God had nothing to do with it.

Lance leaves his wife and kids to shack up with a rock queen; and he's a media idol.

I feel ill every time see someone wearing a yellow plastic wrist-band.
