George Allen would defeat Jim Webb if the election of U.S. Senate in Virginia were held today. That's the finding of a statewide News-7 poll conducted this week. This is the first SurveyUSA poll since Jim Webb won the Democratic nomination to face Republican incumbent George Allen.

SurveyUSA interviewed 1,200 Virginia adults Sunday through Wednesday of this week. Of them, 984 were registered to vote. Of them, 533 were judged to be "likely" voters. The breakdowns in "Survey Details" reflect likely voters.

Fifty-six percent of the likely voters said they'd vote for Allen. Thirty-seven percent said they'd vote for Webb.

Webb is a complete ass. Even on topics where he and I see eye to eye.

But wait. THIS can't be true. Why the media has been falling all over itself to say how "credible" Webb's candidacy is against Allen!

But, if Webb is only pulling less than 40%, that doesn't seem to darn credible!!!

I'm amazed. A poll that actually has the Republican ahead. Almost unheard of.

I hope Webb ends up a political splat mark! He is a crass opportunist. A bad defeat should finish him permanently. He deserves it.

If Sen. Allen finishes with 55%+ in this race, he becomes a strong contender in '08. If he finishes with 60%+, he becomes the frontrunner, if only for a day.

Are you telling me that the DBM (drive by media)put out a lie last week claiming that Allen was toast?

Are you telling me that ABC, NBC, CBS, NYT,WPO and the rest would actually mislead their customers?

Oh, the humanity!!

Well, this explains the desperation so early on from Webb & friends.

actually the closer we get to the actual election... it's gets more normal.

They tilt left in early polls to help their favorite party's candidates with fundraising, and it doesn't hurt to get the moonbats riled up; who knows, maybe one of the crazies will do something outrageous, and there'll be a story in it.

Then as the election nears, they tack back toward reality. Just enough to salvage some of their reputation. Not enough to make anyone in their favorite party angry.

Then, after the election, they can write lots of stories about what looks to them like evidence of voter fraud because the actual vote doesn't jibe with their fantasy polling data.

In the other race, Moveon's adds against Thelma Drake seem to have backfired.

That's two neighborhoods to avoid. [Mr Roger's and McCain's']

Hey, I like Mr. Rogers! He's just a Christian who was good with little kids (and there is no evidence I am aware of that he was a pedophile.) I like Sedona, too, but I don't think I would want McCain as president.
