At Vestal we are looking at between 33 & 35 feet - '36 was 30.5 this is a new record. All of the people in the affected neighborhood except for a couple of *****'s got out without a fight.
I love the drive down along the Delaware Water Gap. Beautiful county. Looks like the NPS has closed the park due to the flooding.
NOW ALL TOGETHER PLEASE....one-two-three..........
IT IS ALL BUSH's FAULT!!!
As I reacll, we had this kind of flooding up in the North East back in the last end of the 60s or the first end of the 70s. I don't think Algore was as interested in screaming about the global warming thing.
I don't find anything about this funny either.
If you read the article, it's Wilkes-Barre and surrounding areas of Luzerne County, which do in fact have 200,000 people.
On another board there's an unsourced RUMOR (and I stress RUMOR that the reason for the evacs despite the crest being below the top of the levees is there's a bubble in one of the levees.
I suspect that since Katrina there's just much less confidence in levees.
I 88 in Delaware County - 22 foot hole in the road - My son drove that YESTERDAY!
Its already cresting? I thought it was still raining?
For the Susquehanna, this is the worst I've seen since Agnes. I live to the west, and the worst we've had is some small stream and creek flooding. And, of course, the infamous Lowman Crossover is closed. Again.

You're probably thinking of Hurricane Agnes in 1972. This flooding event is being compared with Agnes.

At Least 10 Dead in Northeast Flooding
Storms swept into the Northeast on Wednesday, forcing thousands of people from their homes, including more than 2,200 who fled from a rising Maryland lake. A section of interstate highway was washed out in New York state and at least 10 deaths were blamed on the stormy weather. Three people were missing.
New York state emergency officials said two truckers were killed when they drove into a chasm cut across Interstate 88. A flooded creek under the road washed out all four lanes of the highway, about 35 miles northeast of Binghamton.
