You are correct. This Amendment is merely boob bait to sucker conservatives and patriotic Americans into believing that a majority of Senators and Representatives care about their country. The 66-34 vote looks mighty suspicious, inasmuch as the proposal would have required 67 votes. Most of the opponents come from seats in safely "blue" states or are probably not up for election this year. I suspect the outcome was forgone on this one.

If you have been considering donating to Diana Irey but have not yet,I'll offer you something more valuable than money...Change the logo for the candidate. It is wrong on many, many areas.
First, red, gold and blue are not the colors of our country. Change the stripe to white. Also, standing alone the graphic is a frown, not a smile. Negative image.
2. The fonts are wrong. Diana is a strong clean font, but small. Irey is a weak serif font and large.
3. U.S. is a popular entity (at least amoung good Americans. Congress, on the other hand, is looked upon with disdain. The candidate has U.S. small and Congress big. The positive is minimize, the negative accentuated.4. The Blue is the non-traditional, give me the connectin to a Democrat candidate.
The only change to this thinking would be if you are in a heavily Democrat district. Then they may like everything about it.
I don't have a bunch of time to work on this, but here is a quick work-up.

Well, if one is burned in from of the 24 hour patriots, it will be proved by a lot of injuries and severe pain. No matter what....:)
Exactly, I agree that one cannot destroy an idea by burning a flag...but, Marines Hosted the flags in Iwo, and many a flag was carried in many a war, dropped, and picked up again to realistically prove the point that the flag represents the idea and is part of the same.....thus you might call it a psychological issue or whatever, either way, the person doing the spitting, stomping on the flag, burning the flag, will experience a new world that they didn't really expect. The only thing that will protect them if they are encircled by authorities bound by the "law", or the coward has many many friends behind him......There is always another day....and long memories.

Mathematically, the Dems had to vote correctly at least once.

I agree that desecrating an American flag is a cowardly, offensive act. There is no right not to be offended though.

Oh, you can have private property....The Flag is the exception....whether they like it or notAh, I see. Limiting private property rights. Even if I own it I don't really own it. All because a group of people that want to protect a piece of cloth as it makes them 'feel' good say so. Excellent conservative values you have there....

Are you saying that I do not have these rights unless I purchase a US flag from a private business, such as Wal-Mart?
that I'm sure in your liberal mind, I know prove I'm a liberal, what is your evidence...lolol....:)
This statement does not make any sense. I do not understand how you have arrived at the false conclusion that I am a liberal, and I do not understand anything that you have stated beyond that.
and it goes beyond owning a piece of cloth that you will never understand....
Thus far none of your statements appear coherent.

Apparently the common argument is that you personally do not own any individual flag, even if you travel to a store and exchange money for the posession of one. The argument is that the flag belongs to "the people". Such a system seems socialistic to me.

My good friend, you have the rights, as you amaze me at not knowing the simplist of concepts. As far as my statements become coherent or incoherent is based on your obvious inability to understand basic concepts.
Anyway, you will have to deal with the obvious point hanging over your head, so close....yet, so far far far away.......And so, here we go again, battle of the useless posting due to ego and a lost of a sense of control that obviously you have in your life.

My good friend, you have the rights,
I never denied any such thing. I was merely responding to your suggestion that these rights come as a result of exchanging money for the posession of an individual flag from a private business. I was not aware that such a purchase was required for securing these rights.
as you amaze me at not knowing the simplist of concepts.
I have never before encountered anyone who has suggested or stated that the rights that you listed are only obtained as a result of purchasing a US flag.
As far as my statements become coherent or incoherent is based on your obvious inability to understand basic concepts.
Are you certain of that? Are you even willing to consider the possibility that you did not express your sentiments clearly?
Anyway, you will have to deal with the obvious point hanging over your head, so close....yet, so far far far away.......And so, here we go again, battle of the useless posting due to ego and a lost of a sense of control that obviously you have in your life.
Your personal attacks against me do not, in any way, show that you are correct.

You never denied, true, but being one asks a question, implies one doesn't know the answer. Hence, one arrives at the conclusion that the "question asker"...:)), doesn't know the answer. Now, the last sentence of the first paragraph.....:)) "
"I was not aware that such a purchase was required for securing these rights."
tells me that you are having about as much fun as I am with this bantering, as I don't think that you that dumb to actually believe that.....lolol....
"I have never before encountered anyone who has suggested or stated that the rights that you listed are only obtained as a result of purchasing a US flag."
*** this is non-secuiter, as i need you to quote exactly the statement that I inferred this statement. This is an obvious attempt to create a diversion in the actual thread. So, if this is so, they apparently you still have not encountered anyone that has suggested that rights are obtained as a result of purchasing a US flag..so, you are still a virgin.
My comments are stated pretty clar, or cleer, or is it clearly....ah shucks, you know wat eye mean.....:))
"Your personal attacks against me do not, in any way, show that you are correct."
Ah, here we go, the obvious motivation for, (and I have to admit very clever tauting that you do).....your philosphy coach must have been proud. You bring up this for the mods to see. It's you that should be spanked for the methods you use and the .....I have to say, the unprofessional way you conduct yourself. You are like another named Hoplite, you and he would become blood brothers. He uses the same technique to taunt, then when the responder gets personal, in a cowardly way they cry to the mods to ban the person........I've not given you any personal attacks, but only responding to your clever masking of a mild form of personal attacks of your own. Which brings me to the question of put up or shut up...give me the posts that identify the actual personal attacks. Otherwise, move on.......
We can do this all night, or until i have to shut the office and then back at it tomorrow.....

I had specifically asked what I have gained by exchanging money for posession of a flag from a private business. You responded directly to that posting with "You have gained the right to Freedom of speech, liberty, etc". If you were actually replying to the question that I have asked, then why should I not take your answer to mean that the rights that you listed are gained specifically as a result of purchasing a US flag from a private business? If you were not replying to the question that I had asked, then why did you employ a non-sequitur?

It's a duty first and foremostTo protect private property rights? I agree. Let's elect some officials that put that first instead of voting for silly nationalistice Amendments

I see. So speech we disagree with should be met with violence. That's good....
