House Race Hotline Extra: Utah 03 Some quotes to illustrate the importance of this race.
"There is a very good chance that he could go down," Jeff Hartley, executive director of the Utah Republican Party, tells First Read. "You wouldn't have the involvement from the White House if he weren't in jeopardy." (NBC News)
Consultant LeVarr Webb: "A low turnout is expected, so be one of the few who make a difference and have a voice." (Utah Policy Daily) )
UT GOP Chair Joe Cannon "says he's trying to stay neutral" in his brother's UT 03 primary, "but it didn't come across that way" in his online comments about challenger/alleged Satan victim John Jacob (Salt Lake Tribune).
A poll published over the weekend by the Deseret Morning News and KSL-TV, conducted by Dan Jones & Associates, found Cannon ahead 46-33 percent among registered voters in the 3rd District. But 18 percent of voters remained undecided. "That's one of the highest 'undecideds' numbers I've seen so close to a primary election," said Jones, who has polled in Utah for more than 30 years. (Deseret News)
Jacob backtracks on his "Satan" comments: "What the [Salt Lake Tribune] reported and what I said weren't the same thing. It wasn't that [the devil] was trying to keep me out of Washington. I was just saying when you're trying to get into politics, there's a lot of adversity.
Contrary to reports of saying it was keeping me from being there, it was going to help me in training when I get there. It's not the devil; it's adversity." (Utah Policy Daily)
Illegal immigrants come from many countries besides Mexico. Most illegals also have a high birth rate. Chain migration would allow them to bring in all sorts of relatives, and other seldom discussed provisions allow most anyone to apply for a more liberal "refugee" status. We would have tens of millions of illegals here if McCain Kennedy passed. believe it or not.
Second, I am not aware of any proposal that gives amnesty or a full pardon. I am aware of proposals that say after paying fines, taxes keeping ones nose clean for 12 to 15 years, learning English and other conditions that one can apply to become a citizen.
In the meantime they get to stay and work here, and are not forced to leave, which is the minimum penalty for illegal entry.
I am not familiar with any proposals that give amnesty. A full pardon and full forgiveness.
So what do you call it when someone breaks the law and is rewarded with the right to stay and work here ahead of everyone else who didn't break the law? This has been pointed out to you may times and you refuse to listen.
If you want to help these poor people out, I suggest you join the Peace Core and help them in their own country. If I wanted to live in a third world crap hole I would move there, I certainly don't want it to move here and limit my choices. Buy a clue, crime and corruption are all they we will get from the third world countries, there is no benefit to us unless we have absolute control on who comes and goes, and for how long. Its called Sovereignty.
Good one!
I know it's hard for you to understand.
You actually have to live and vote in a state thats RED ...especially one that ended AlGore's Presidential ambitions. Unfortunately you have not experienced
what it's like to vote against the Homestate boy (AlGORE) and watch him lose the Presidency of The US.
Ahhhh Nothing replaces the experience.
Thats conservative, my Amish friend.
When do the polls close?
I am familar with the concept of Sovernety. Also I know its pretty silly that any other proposal that does not punish people who came here illegally by deporting them or starving them over the border never ever to return is called amnesty.
Besides such proposals if enacted would kill us as the public saw it live on TV. Saw familes broke up. Saw kids that were 2 when they came here and have no clue what life is like in Mexico and all those people get deported. It will make great compelling TV and after a little of that we shall be watching that as a party that is out of power.
IF the House bill showed some common sense as to some of those issues there is a chance it would become law. BUt no, its for no exceptions what so ever. Thats why it is fantasy land. It could very well get held up in the courts and in the mean time we get thrown out of power and lose the latino vote forever.
No thanks
Are you not tired of her constant yammering, I got a headache three hours ago reading her posts. SHE DOESN'T GET IT. She lives in fantasyland. Definitely not in touch with the real world.
I gotta admit, it's not looking good for Jacob right now, per the blogs.

Specter held a press conference yesterday or today and basically said his idea of "compromise" is passing the Senate bill. The House has wisely chosen to ignore going into conference and I hope they stick to that decision whether Cannon wins or not.
How can they know? Is there an exit poll or something?
Last I remember "Blogs" don't vote.
...It could very well get held up in the courts and in the mean time we get thrown out of power and lose the latino vote forever....
I suggest you put down the Kool-Aid and step away fron the keyboard, you have entered the twilight zone if you think illegals( other than Cubans) will ever vote Republican.

Aand what side would that be.
Forget it. You've been into the shine too early.
What blogs are you looking at. I cant find many that are updating too much.
You should try some.. it might lighten u up.
I hope Cannon wins but if Jacobs takes it I will do what I can to support him. How about all of you for Jacobs? Will you do the same for Cannon?
Well I know the GOP has a lot of people who have no problem with amnesties and so I expect the debate to be going on for a while yet.
