Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel

Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath” about his network’s recent ratings slide – and has given notice to staffers that he’s willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.

The cable news channel’s overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.

Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.

Ailes is said to be "fuming” over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.

He feels production values are slipping and bookers aren’t aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.

A full-page "Now Hiring” ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?”

Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.”

An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who don’t will not. And that includes talent.”

Where was MSNBC? They were gloating over Fox's slide.

Perhaps he might notice how many of his personalities lean left these days? Of course the ratings fall when that happens, as conservatives are the ones who made Foxnews what it was.

That's very kind. Thanks.

I'm constantly preaching about how jetlag is worse going east, and I still think that's true. But 48 hours after touching down at JFK, I'm still goofy. My head knows it's 9 pm, but I still feel like it is 3 am.

Maybe tomorrow...

Regarding Shep Smith.

"Does this guy really add that much to FNC? I mean, really?"

I have been saying for years that FNC should find a way to get rid of him. Adding "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" to the 7PM hour would greatly increase ratings, and ad revenue would rise.

Spend some money, Roger.

Really. I quit watching FNC because of crappy programming, sloppy news reporting and an influx of liberal retreads from CNN and MSNBC

Unfortunately they've now added retreads from CourtTV in the mix. Guilfoyle and Weintraub should be shown the door immediately.

Fire Colmes, Hemmer, Shep, Clark, Gabler, Greta and Julian and for pete sakes BRING BACK ASMAN!

Good grief watching H&C and who should appear but Arianna Huffington. Click!

I have a few recommendations for the chopping block... There are some folks on FNC that cause me to change channels the minute I hear their voice.

Same here. I would actually watch Greta at night if it weren't for that police investigator guy that talks like Mushmouth from the Fat Albert show. Grrrrr I can't stand to hear that guy talk.

The people they have are great but waaaaay overexposed. Fox needs a deeper bench...

I can't stand half the people they've hired lately. They brought the CNN attitude with them. Blech.

I want more Humes, Cavutos, Asmans, Vesters, Gibsons...etc. I want people who give the President a fighting chance.

Ditto to that !!!

I used to keep a set on 24/7 tune to the Fox News channel, but not any more. Like the Republican Party they have forsaken their core audience in a failed attempt to make a larger tent. When they get back to their roots, I will resume watching.

THANK YOU for posting the link to the article about David Asman's wife having a stroke in London. It's an unbelievable story, which I printed out and will share with friends. Here's the link again for anyone who didn't see it.

I like John Gibson. He's genuine. He's studious. I don't think he's an egomaniac.

Did you notice John changed his hairstyle? People used to send him e-mails complaining about his hair. LOL

Turning it into the missing white girl network and refuge for CNN retreads, combined with having the same raving liberal lunatics on repeatedly shooting off thier mouths as if they had something of value to say is what did it for me. I don't watch news because I enjoy screaming and getting nauseous. When I can't keep a channel on for 5 minutes without one or both of those effects, it's time to find a saner source.

They need to fire E.D.Hill, Shepherd Smith. Give a raise to Julie Bandera and Rebecca Gomez. They should have hired Monica Crowley.

"The first thing for them to do is eliminate that horrible rotating logo in the left corner of the screen--it's guaranteed to burn itself into the left corner of almost any large screen TV."

Fox way overdoes the onscreen graphics. They load up the bottom 6 inches of my screen with useless graphics in addition to the partial flag thing in the corner. It is especially aggrivating when I'm trying to watch important live shots and I loose a big part of the picture. Usually for live video I watch whichever channel that gives as close to full screen as possible. It's never Fox.

The flag thing was cool shortly after 9-11, don't care for it taking up a big part of my 31" now though.

They should have hired Monica Crowley.

Monica is conservative, smart, and does her homework. She could take over Greta's slot.

My 2 cents ---

Get off the Holloway etc. stuff / knock off the food and street antics on Fox and Friends / get Brit a room at the studio so that he can be on more often / give Shep his Oscar and then promote him out / bring in some of the great reporters for a slot (Bret Baer - Major Garrett) / Find a notch for Krauthammer. / more Beltway Boys. That 1/2 hour on week-ends isn't enough.

I don't mind Gabler as he shows what an ******e he is. The spots for the left are fine with me as no one can say that Fox is not balanced.

I'll think of more

Stop with the FAUX NEWS broadcasts and I'll come back...

i.e. lose Smith and the "random Blond Girl is missing alerts"...
