Rush Limbaugh was briefly detained Monday at Palm Beach International Airport when customs agents inspected the conservative talk show host's luggage and found Viagra that belonged to two Florida doctors, authorities said.

"He was not arrested," Palm Beach County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela said.

Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued a statement through a spokesman saying that agents found a "non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."

Limbaugh, 55, of Palm Beach, and three others arrived on a private jet from the Dominican Republic to the General Air Facility at PBIA on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service said.

Agents searched the plane during a routine customs inspection and found a pill bottle that was not in Limbaugh's name, said Jennifer Connors, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman. Agents confiscated the medicine and called the Sheriff's Office, which took over the investigation.

"Mr. Limbaugh was cooperative. He gave a statement that he had a bottle in his possession and that it was Viagra," said sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller, who noted that the prescription was filled in Florida.

My Dad ... used to take a zillion medications for his lungs and diabetes.

If he took as many meds as you say, he ALSO probably carried them in a day-by-day pill holder.

However, a spokesman for the office said that, generally, a person on drug offender probation is prohibited from possessing narcotics and that Viagra does not fall in that category.

Hence, his being detained. . .and his privacy viiolated; and worse; before this story is finished on the Lib circuit. . .

Oh. ..that's right; it cannot be a "Lib' thing. . .they are the one's who are sooooooo concerned about the privacy of individual Americans being compromised. . .

(so concerned that they would reveal 'National Security info' to protect us. . .)

Aren't there privacy laws that are designed to protect the confidentiality of physician-patient information?

Yes,but picture a lowly pharmacy tech at his neighborhood Walgreen's,making $8/hr,coming to learn that Rush takes Viagra. How much do you think the Enquirer would pay for that info?

thought it was the conservative position that sexual relations out of wedlock were to be frowned upon.

No. It's not a Conservative position. It's a religious position...along with not eating meat on Friday and women wearing a doily on your head to church. Are you for real?

Yes - the physician's name is held in confidence because he isn't germane to the article's intent.

Limbaugh is well aware that he has made himself a target of the Left. I bet that the news tip came from some hack Customs Service Clinton hold-overs.

He's lucky. This could've resulted in a stiff sentence.

Hard time, no less!

They obviously had a bone to pick with Rush.

Thank goodness. Getting arrested with a double dose of Viagra can lead to hard time in the joint.

Viagra smuggling can yield a stiff sentence.

I was in charge of his medications because he lived with me and was unable to manage them himself.I wish I could remember the exact wording of the sticker, but I'm 99% certain that the word "transfer" was used.If I'm correct on that, then the next question would be under Federal law, what does the word "transfer" mean in a case of this sort?

The possession of *any* prescription medication, including non-habit forming drugs,by anyone other than the person to whom it was prescribed is a Federal offense

That seems ridiculous to me...My wife usually purchases my allergy meds and keeps them in her purse when we travel. I suppose we could be in trouble if some hyperactive customs agent wanted to be a jerk.

Which is why he needs to be careful, above suspicion like Caesar's wife, and not let himself get set up in situations ilke this. I doubt there would've been one problem if this was Joe Schmoe from Secaucus, N.J. Unfortunately, Rush Limbaugh is not Joe Schmoe from Secaucus, N.J., and whether you think it's right or wrong, the realities for someone in his situation, especially someone who has such a spotlight on him and has a bull's eye on his back and who is such a target and has so many people gunning for him both figuratively and literally, is that he has to operate by a different set of rules than the normal American because he is not just a normal American.

I don't think Rush faces one iota of legal jeopardy here. But was what he did wise? I don't think so.

I've used this analogy before ... don't draw a bull's eye on your cheek and stick it out, and then fuss and whine and complain when somebody administers a left hook.

. Rush has some fine homes down there. Those Dems are so envious of him. He is living the good life.

Both he and Tiger, and many more. Just the taxes Tiger has "saved" from California state income tax, during his career, probably paid for his new Florida hacienda plus his boat. But this thread is about Rush, and what piques my curiosity is his trip to Dominica. Probably just a golf vacation, but, very interesting.

Why he continues to live in the area he does is amazing given the hassles the local Bozons have put him through.
