Rush Limbaugh was briefly detained Monday at Palm Beach International Airport when customs agents inspected the conservative talk show host's luggage and found Viagra that belonged to two Florida doctors, authorities said.

"He was not arrested," Palm Beach County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela said.

Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued a statement through a spokesman saying that agents found a "non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."

Limbaugh, 55, of Palm Beach, and three others arrived on a private jet from the Dominican Republic to the General Air Facility at PBIA on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service said.

Agents searched the plane during a routine customs inspection and found a pill bottle that was not in Limbaugh's name, said Jennifer Connors, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman. Agents confiscated the medicine and called the Sheriff's Office, which took over the investigation.

"Mr. Limbaugh was cooperative. He gave a statement that he had a bottle in his possession and that it was Viagra," said sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller, who noted that the prescription was filled in Florida.

Ted Kennedy would get the same treatrment from Rush.

Ted Kennedy would never get this type of treatment from customs officials, or from out of control prosecutors in Florida.

That's the point. Kennedy is treated like royalty by the libs and would never have been 'detained' for something so stupid as a few Viagra in his luggage.

I believe there were customs agents who so hate Rush and conservatives that they were determined to "find" something wrong with Limbaugh just to attempt to embarass him.

Likewise, a conservative custom agent, I am certain, would not be so krass as to micro-inspect a Kennedy's luggage just to try and bring up phony charges.

This entire incident proves once again the hatred and bias of those opposed to Republican/conservatives.

I have enormous respect for Limbaugh, but this was a stupid move by him and/or the doctor involved.Unless I'm very much mistaken this is a Federal crime. The possession of *any* prescription medication, including non-habit forming drugs,by anyone other than the person to whom it was prescribed is a Federal offense.

Didn't Rush once say during the William Kennedy Smith trial that if you hire Roy Black you must be guilty? Funny what goes around comes around.

So, my doctor gave me a sample - does that make me a criminal?

Nothing like a hardened celebrity criminal to threaten society. < /s >

It has always been my understanding that it is illegal to take prescription drugs

How come Viagra is available for purchase over the Internet, without a prescription from a doctor?

I wonder if the PBCounty prosecutor is going to have the pills tested. All they would need is a false positive for a controlled substance to put Rush in jail. The more I read about this the more it seems Rush was being set-up.

They probably managed to say that by including the prescribing physician plus the one to whom the prescription was written. I am assuming the prescription was not written by and for the same doctor. That way the MSM gets their insinuation in that Rush is doctor shopping.

Well, that is it for Rush's privacy! What is a 55 year old man doing with Viagra? Is that not for 75-80 year old men? ...not to mention an unmarried man. I have no idea why they detained him at the airport for possessing the little blue pills; to me that is equivalent to detaining someone for possessing vitamin pills. Yeah, yeah you are going to tell me that it was a prescription drug, that's why. You cannot put the "genie back into the bottle" so "living it up" is easier than "living it down." Somebody at the airport is liable for this unwarranted, unjustified search and detainment, IMHO.

Is it a crime not to have your name on the package?

I've lost count of the number of times my physicians have given me samples of prescription drugs such as antibiotics or decongestants.

At no time were they labeled with my name.

When my doctor gave them to me the were, by definition, prescribed for me.

I get samples all the time and I carry my Metformin and Avendia in a key chain unlabeled holder. The bottles from CVS are hard to carry in your pocket.

You can call me a cynic, if you like, but I think this is a case where conservatives get busted for carrying Viagra, while liberals like William Jefferson commit bribery and that entitles them to be a Congressman. It's a double standard.

Of course, if you could show me another case where someone was detained by airport personnel for carrying Viagra, and then had the story leaked to the media, I might think differently.

I'm betting that Limbaugh is the only person in history who has been detained for carrying Viagra.

The possession of *any* prescription medication, including non-habit forming drugs,by anyone other than the person to whom it was prescribed is a Federal offense.

Not true - Pharmacies routinely sell prescriptions to people other than those named on the prescription. Husbands, wives, parents, and even friends can pick up and carry prescriptions for others.

This whole escapade is an attempt to embarrass Rush and nothing more. It is very likely a violation of physician/client privacy to publicly disclose this information in the first place. Obviously, some liberals (or maybe all of them) are out to silence Rush. They hate him because he continuously exposes their shenanigans.
