MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.

Pls see #427...I've posted the U.S. Customs rules.

It's also illegal to drive 1 mph over the speed limit but law enforcement officers show discretion.

This has got to be a fluke.

Viagra can be bought in most countries without a prescription.

Evidently the enemies of Rush are also our enemies.

It is not uncommon for a doctor to give away a sample to patients.

These are times when a person would like to choke the green goose feces out of these liberal turds.

That's very cute, but does this mean the doctor's done something wrong?

discretion

I love that word.

Who decides when discretion should be used? Who decides what person gets a pass and what person does not get a pass?

Laws are supposed to apply equally, not in a discretionary manor. Discretion is what gets terrorists into the country. That said, I do understand what your saying; unfortunately, those with the power of discretion wield it badly.

As long as the pills are still in sample packets then you should be ok. I read a story a while ago where here in Georgia that it is illegal to travel at all with prescription medication of any kind that is not in the original bottle. This includes automobiles or public transportation.

Only if you are Rush Limbaugh's doctor

If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.

Ha ha ha ha. Come on. That's got to be a joke, right?

The bottle should reflect the name that's written by the MD on the script. Pharmacists are usually fairly stringent about having names and addresses of the person on the script.

You're assuming Rush had the prescription filled by a pharmacist. More likely it was dispensed directly to him by his physician.

When you see one of the physicians down here who caters to the super rich you can get it dispensed in the physician's name and never go to a pharmacy. This  must be what happened. I'm sure some states allow this, some don't.

I guess the lesson is that it's nice being a regular joe. Nobody cares what you do.

Cops do it everyday - so do judges and so do juries. If a cop gets called to a house that is being too loud, he could charge the occupants with disturbing the peace or he could just warn them. The same with a speeding violation and countless other offenses.

My point was that once the pills were determined to be viagra (which matched the label of the bottle) then it would be reasonable to just warn the person and then send them on their way.

And when the CBP Officer got fired, would you and the rest of United States rush to his defense and help him get his job back?

The law does no make any distinction between prescription drugs. Until the law changes, no CBP Officer is going to risk his job for Rush or any other traveler in violation of the law.

I just traveled to the East Coast and back by plane,in my backpack I had 2 weeks of prescription medications (5 pills a day ) in plastic pill containers... no questions were asked...if I went out of the country I would be in trouble?

Actually the lesson is to avoid contact with government employees with police power at all costs - you never know when one of them may have had a bad day.

The Rush would have been better off being pulled over by the cops. CBP does not give that authority to CBP Officers.

I thought it was funny when I first saw the story on the front page of the Atlanta Urinal Constipation.

But now I am sick for the man. Who among us don't have major embarassments that we want to remain private. This man is our champion. He has taken bricks and arrows of every sort for us.

I am very sad for Rush and may his enemies face the wrath of a Holy and just God.

Great insight.

I always just throw all of my meds in the same bottle and then separate them when needed.

This is nothing but a BS story.

I would say someone in Homeland Security needs to have a long, tough talk with the Palm Beach County security people.

That's a good question. I travel with my prescription meds in one of those day of the week plastic containers and leave the pill bottles at home. Is this a problem?

I have traveled overseas with several prescription medications mixed in the same container - no one got fired.

"We believe there may be a second-degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said. ... the charge, commonly referred to as "doctor shopping," would be dismissed after 18 months if he continues to submit to random drug tests and treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

One wonders if the Florida *authorities* will consider Viagara a pain killer, of sorts.
