June 25, 2006 -- A Brooklyn anesthesiologist callously ditched his wife and three kids, leaving them homeless after he secretly sold their house and fled the country with all their money, the wife alleges. Dr. Raihan Chowdhury was deemed a fugitive Wednesday for ignoring repeated court orders to provide for his hapless family.
His wife, Sharmin Sultana, who gave up her career as a gynecologist to become a full-time mom, is now broke and staying at a women's shelter with the couple's two daughters and toddler son.
All while her husband lives in luxury in his native Bangladesh, possibly having remarried without getting a divorce here, according to her divorce documents and her lawyer's statements in Brooklyn Family Court.

Alouette .. I'm missing how this fits into the Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list ???
Our nation does not protect stay at home moms, they don't look at their work as worthwhile, thanks to women like Gloria Steinem.
&&
Amen to that. And our culture has suffered mightily as a result.
Amen, sister, I can relate to your rotten hubby story, although mine is not as bad.
There are many wronged divorced men out there, but there are also many wronged women. And both groups can ultimately thank the feminist movement, IMHO.
I think it's the same or similar in most states. But if her name wasn't on the deed, what's to say he just didn't claim he was single or divorced and their was no wife in the picture? Of course that meant he committed fraud, but what did he care? He was leaving the country anyway and he knows his muslim country isn't could to extradite him back to the US.
BINGO!
They can:
own property
drive a car
testify in court
go to school
be seen in public without a family member of the opposite sex escorting them
etc. etc. etc.
Things which, BTW, a woman can't do in a devout møøselimb country...
Not necessarily.
Many foreign men treat their wives like chattel.
Some even value little boys, goats and cows above their wives .
Divorce in some countries is easy, all a person has to do is say I am done with you and the woman must leave.
LOL.
Good post.
All while her husband lives in luxury in his native Bangladesh
Luxury in Bangladesh: Bread twice a day, tin roof rather than straw and a fan.
She probably has it better in the shelter.
Can we send her donations?

I was at first struck by the same feeling, but there are some questions I have.
Don't you think it's odd that she is stuck in the shelter yet she has a lawyer?
Why would the lawyer not advance a loan to her so that she can live in an apartment and prepare to become certified in this country?
Hammer on nail, driven clean. One swing.
Bravo!!!
Under sharia law, women can't own property. Why on earth would her name be on the deed???
How non-diverse and culturally insensitive your question shows you to be!
I think she could go to an number of medical organizations who would spot he startup costs she has option just a tough transition time.
**
Why would her attorney not spot her a loan knowing that she would be a bet after she's back in practice?
She has no license in the United States to practice medicine and would need months to study and take the board exams to secure one.
Let us get real here. She's in a bind. I think I'd sell the kids and use the money to get certification here and then to hire a killer to get some of the cash back. Three kids should sell easily and quickly. Hired killers in Bangladesh don't cost much.
YMMV. See post #50...
17% of Bangladashi is Hindu, don't be so fast to assume all dots only connect one way ...
......She ought to update her license.....
Her Bangladesh license is probably the equivalent of a midwife and not worth a damn in America.
Yes - I DON'T care if it's "cultural" or not - it sucks!
Dang. I wish I could help but I just sent 10,000 dollars to a deposed prince in Namibia.
"Couldn't happen in Florida."
Or in Wisconsin. Believe me, I've tried, LOL! (Just kidding!)
