His name won't appear on the ballot next week, but Rep. Tom Tancredo is the phantom factor haunting a Republican congressional primary in Utah.

Maybe. Rino.
but you understand that Tancredo wants a guest-worker program after enforcement is in order and that workers can be screened properly.
Bump
I was sanguine about illegal immigration until the Senate amnesty bill was debated. I quickly became appalled with the Senate/Bush "leave no Mexican behind" shamnesty bill.
What is the point of fighting the WOT overseas if we won't defend our borders at home? The illegal immigration scam benefits a few but screws everyone else. Our schools, hospitals, criminal justice system, and the working class are being damaged and harmed every day so modern day plantation agribusiness or landscaper can reap more profit.
To paraphrase (poorly) Alan Keyes: Illegals aren't taking jobs Americans won't work. Illegals are working at wages Americans won't accept.
Illegal immigration is a classic screw your buddy game. Too bad some freepers around here just don't get it.
Nice try by both you and Cannon.
The truth is that Cannon has never encountered an amnesty for illegal aliens bill that he didn't like. He's voted for them and that's all the proof you need. Suddenly, he's in a tight race because of his pro-amnesty voting record. And, just as suddenly, he's pretending that he's against amnesty and making statements to that effect.
Don't pay attention to what he's saying right now, but how he's actually voted in the past (for amnesty, for sanctuary cities, for chain migration, for guest worker plans, etc). He'll say anything to get elected now but his past demonstrates exactly where he stands on this issue.
And you, Dane, daily use this conservative forum to go against conservative Republican Tom Tancredo who has a more conservative voting record than Cannon. Hypocrit.
The President has used his position and power to go against conservative John Jacob. I haven't heard you complain about that.
That is the purpose of Free Republic, for conservatives to have an effect at the grass roots level. The only way to change Congress is to put pressure on Congressmen to vote a certain way or to replace them with more conservative Congressmen. So, here we are on the eve of a primary election in Utah where we're trying to replace a conservative candidate who has some serious flaws in his voting record especially on the issue of amnesty for illegal aliens with a candidate who will vote conservative but will not vote for amnesty. This is how it is done and what we are here for. But we have these pests coming on to Free Republic to push for the re-election of the less conservative incumbent mainly because they SUPPORT the less conservative candidate's liberal voting record on the specific issue of amnesty and rewards for illegal aliens. What is wrong with this picture?
"I hope he is punished by the leadership when this is over."
Unless, of course, Tancredo IS the leadership when this is over !
"Ya'll always over play your hand."
And you won't?
Cannon is an OPEN BORDER advocate. If you are in favor of high crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, slavery, and overall congestion of your state, he is your man. AND YES HE IS A RHINO....
A LOT (and the latest local polls have the race neck and neck) of us who actually LIVE HERE believe he has failed in representing US.
If the Independents get out and vote....Cannon is going to lose.
redrock
And believe Jacob's line that satan was thwarting his campaign and was th reason for his lack of campaign contributions, so you say.
Jacob's is just as conservative as Cannon....it's just that to those of us who actually live here (unlike all the other Pro-Cannon idiots) are fed up with the total lack of response from our elected official (ya know...the one who's supposed to REPRESENT US)...that we want a change.
Period.
I guess you'll just have to live with it.

Oh please, anyone who puts his inability to garner campaign contributions as an act of ultimate evil against him, will be seen for the charlatan he is, no matter which Christian denomination, IMO.

Oh and a nice try on your part.
As I pointed out above Jacob's plan has an amnesty componant in it. Yet Jacob goes around saying that he's against amnesty.
Do you think that isn't an example of "saying anything to get elected"?
BTW, according to this report, Bay Buchanan criticized Jacob for being weak on illegal immigration at the convetion. Then Team America's candidate Merrill Cook loses and now TA supports Jacob.
Do you think that isn't an example of "saying anything..."?
Are you voting for Chet Edwards?
An interesting way for you to advocate lawbreaking- to enforce our own law is "punishment".
It does deny foreign nationals the opportunity to cost the taxpayers of California billions of dollars a year, something you pro-illegal sobsisters conventiently ignore. But then stealing from the taxpayers is okay if you're On A Mission From God.
Encouraging report. I will be most interested in following the results of the race.
