Editor's note: On the evening of July 17, 1996, at 8:19 p.m., TWA Flight 800, a Boeing 747, took off from Kennedy Airport, bound for Paris. At 8:31 p.m., over 730 people watched Flight 800 explode, killing all 230 of the people aboard.

Not long afterwards, millions of Americans watched their televisions in fascinated horror as search and rescue crews looked for survivors among the flaming debris. Only dead bodies were recovered.

Flight 800 is mostly an ugly memory for people these days. The U.S. government issued an explanation that a fuel tank had somehow exploded. Yet, they flatly denied any evidence existed of foul play, including the possibility that Flight 800 had been blown out of the air by a missile.

All but a few journalists accepted the government's version of events. Few bothered to investigate the numerous eyewitnesses, the radar records and the physical evidence that all suggested a strikingly different explanation of Flight 800's untimely demise. And those few who did question the government's version were made to look like fools or, worse, thrown in jail and prosecuted as criminals for meddling in an official investigation.

The only coverup in this case is the coverup of conmen like Cashill who knowingly twist facts to make a story they can make money off of. It is sickening.

Rokke, sorry but on Cashill you are dead wrong. I have known Jack personally for 12 years, and consider him a good friend. He is one of the finest men you will ever meet, a leader in the Chrsitian community, and to top it off a Rhodes scholar.

In all sincerity, and based on years of reading his own words, I can say the guy is a dishonest conman. And it is a fact that he makes a living writing about conspiracies that he perpetuates. Whether he is your friend or not, I stand on my statements about him and use his own words and business practices to back me up.

And I think you are incorrect about him being a Rhodes Scholar.

Rokke, why pray tell did the FBI have to go to such extreme measures in harassing James Sanders wife? I have personally met her, and she is a first class lady. Yet, simply because Sanders would not provide the source of where he obtained the residue found on the seats they let him know they were going after his wife. She was a supervisor for TWA's flight attendants in St. Louis, and they went after both of them to the point the lady had to go into hiding for almost 2 years. During this time she was not even able to maintain contact with her husband. Then when they did arrest her they made certain she was paraded in handcuffs through a crowd of reporters in New York. This was purposely done at a certain time and place to demean the lady.

Hopefully not literally! But good on you. Nothing like soloing the first time. It costs a lot, but it's worth it. And a lot safer than playing around with old explosives.

100 % correct, the fuel probes are low voltage, however as you have pointed out a higher voltage was shorted(shunted) into the probe lines, and arced across to ground inside the tank....this all seems reasonable, and technically possible.....but, how can we dismiss all the visual sightings, especially from a helicopter pilot with VN experience...Then after a couple days into the crash, the White House summoned all the principals working on the investigation, for a "summit" in Washington....

She was found guilty of committing a crime and interfering with a Federal investigation. That is a BIG deal. Accident investigations are incredibly important to aircraft safety. And one that is considered a criminal event is even more important. I'm sure she is a nice lady, but she is also a convicted criminal. My mother is a nice lady too, but I don't expect police to treat her any differently than anyone else.
