500 chem weapons warheads??? Yawn, don't care unless it's at least 50,000.... /sarcasm
Get ready, the libs will assess whether this information is being widely disseminated and noticed by the public. If they sense that their house of cards is collapsing with the public's perceptions, expect the most intense, vicious, and depraved propaganda campaign we have yet seen. I anticipate they will attack on at least 3 fronts: (1) disparage the info as still not very significant "old news, old weapons, degraded chemicals".... etc. (2) still not the "mushroom cloud" the WH said we should worry about; (3) this info must have been withheld and then released now for political purposes (with no explanation of why the WH wouldn't have wanted all possible evidence available for the 2004 campaign if they were thinking and behaving in political ways on this).
The circus has just begun, get ready for the fireworks!

The reason any WMD's in Iraq would be kept secret would be to keep Al Queda from digging around looking for it before we could find it.As long as we're tossing theories around how about this: Suppose the origins of the shells and/or their contents might embarass someone. Perhaps that somone is someone whose cooperation the Bush Administration is trying to acquire when dealing with other headline grabbing world events. Discretion would provide a useful trump card. Perhaps it's time to play that card.

"Everyone, prepare for some of the worst insanity we have seen yet from the Demagogues!!"
You are right, the Dems are going to totally dissemble on this. They will talk about timing. They will try to argue that WMD really mean nukes, so they haven't found any nukes, so Bush lied.
We should prepare for something else as well. And this is the worst insanity. Think about which prominent Dem has remained somewhat aloof from the WMD discussion, even being accused by members of her own party of being a hawk while anti-war forces in New York are trying to field a candidate against her. Yes, my friends, the ultimate spin on this will be that this will just go to prove that Hillary is still the smartest woman in the world.
Of course the reality is that her hubby still gets national security briefings and he has known for a long time that Iraq had WMDs.
Mark my words...

I caught just the end of an interview with Senator Santorum on Michael Reagans show about 1/2 hour ago. I didn't hear the beginning so I was unsure, at the time, what he was talking about.
He said that they sent out a press release announcing the press conference, with the subject "WMD found in Iraq", and only FOUR agencies sent reporters!!! They were Fox, CNS, and two others he didn't identify. He said it was unbelievable. They obviously don't want to stop reporting the NO WMD line.

The MSM and the Demagogues (same thing, really) will now desperately pray this story fades away. If they cannot get away with ignoring it, then they will be like squids squirting black ink everywhere, hoping they can obscure the facts until the dozing public "moves on." It is probably all up to the conservatives in blogs, talk radio, etc. to turn up the heat because the MSM is desperate to avoid facing reality on this story.

This has the Freepers all in a tizzy. The war is now justified at a cost of 5 dead and 36 wounded US soldiers ($and $600,000,000) per shell. Yay!
Many are questioning, though, why the information was not released earlier. Speculation is that we kept it a secret to prevent al-Qaeda from knowing that such armaments might still be found and used. (Of course, if thats the case, either Santorum has independently determined that these are ALL the weapons were ever going to find, or he has revealed state secrets to al-Qaeda in a cynical attempt to boost his polls against Casey.)
Personally, Ill assume these shells are long-past-their-freshness-date junk, until more details emerge.
