Rain, Rain, didn't Go Away but We Dropped Literature Anyway...
Despite the rain the campaign managed a total literature drop over the weekend of over 4000 pieces. It’s not what we hoped for but it was a Herculean effort and it made a great difference. Rain blocked some of our efforts and will stymie us all this week.

“Special thanks” goes to my wife, Niki, and our kids, Sarah, Christopher, Shelby, Savannah, Nicholas and Sydney. The same goes out for their friends Teagan, Haden, Chase, Emory and a few others. I can’t even keep up with all the great kids helping out over here. What a great bunch of hard workers!
Thanks also to Bettie Moss and Cathy Beauxdroux in the South Shore area for picking up the torch this week.
That goes out to Mark Reiff, too, this faithful volunteer has been a foot soldier and effort leader for the conservative movement for a long time.
Claire Worthington and Pat Stanton are great helps as well as Charlotte P. in the Kemah, Clearlake Shores, Bacliff, San Leon area.
Tom Tyler, Julio Estrada, Terry Pearce, Libby Hankins and others have been doing yeoman’s work through out the Dickinson area.
Friendswood efforts are lagging but should come online with a bang this week or next as we have several thousand flier deliveries in commitments!
We have a couple of thousand fliers strategically placed with a volunteer on Galveston Island but I am waiting for willing hands (and feet) to get those distributed.
I love the Peninsula but I don’t know what to say other than it’s a tough place to cover with volunteers and we don’t have it worked out yet at all.
Teri Urban and some others in Texas City and La Marque also have been helpful and make the “Thank You” List.
I’ll list other names as time goes by but “Thank You!” to everyone who has been making this campaign move forward. You are heroes to the Tax Cut movement.
Finally, I want to say how impressed I am to be surrounded by such a great Republican ticket. Galveston County needs a big fresh change and even if you normally vote Democratic and plan to do so in the future, this is the year to hit the “Refresh” button by helping put this fantastic team in place to serve Galveston County.

Although I am currently living in the People's Republic of Mass., I grew up in Austin, used to live in The Woodlands, and my wife went to UT Law, so I understand some of the Texas legal system. But can you help some of us understand how a judge can lower taxes without being activist? Is a Galveston County judge really something other than a "judge" in the traditional sense? Based on your website it sounds to me like it's more of a county "commissioner".
I wish you the best in your election. I love that Texas elects judges. My wife was a clerk for Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson during a campaign a few years ago. Good luck!

Walace Jefferson is now the first BLACK Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court (AND HE's REPUBLICAN).
County Judge is indeed much like a county commissioner. He is the head of the 5 member County Court. (4 Commissioners and one Judge)
In Texas he also has the power of a probate judge and a Justice of the Peace and a few other Judicial peculiarities. Most judges have hung up this part of their office in favor of strictly doing the management end of the county.
In the old days when counties were less populated and judicial recourse was harder to come by the duty load was just the office. I would expect at some point in the future the office will be constitutionaly redifined as strictly a county executive.

Thanks for the explanation. Being in Massachusetts, we've had to get used to other peculiarities - like having a semi-elected Governor's Council that is required to approve payments from the state treasury, approve judicial appointments, and approve pardons, etc. No other state has this Council - and for good reason.
