I don't know much about the Bible, but I do remember a sermon that said "in the last days there would be a great movement of the holy spirit." or something like that.
perhaps this is a sign..

Way down among Brazilians
Church goers grow by the millions
So they have to build those extra pews to fill
They got an awful lot of Christians in Brazil!

The world is changing. U.S. Christians need to make a fast shift from the spectator church to the house church, where individuals get empowered for growth. I've been looking for an evangelical Church like I went to in my childhood. Have they gone underground or just folded all together. I want a Church that preaches to all of us sinners and presents Jesus as the only "cure". Every Church I've been in in the last 30, maybe 40 years, tickle the ears of their congregations. That is sinful.

2 years ago our church partnered with a church in Brazil and since that time they have sent us 2 missionaries to help spread the gospel here in the US. At one time, the US was the leader in sending out missionaries...now the legacy of all that is...missionaries are being sent back to us to help us get back on track. Our country appears to have forgotten God, but He has not forgotten us.

Praise God! Great news.
Have followed Cindy's ministry from time to time. I don't consider her flawless but I do consider her an authentic minister of the Gospel with an authentic prophetic gifting.
Much appreciate this thread.

This near atheist Wasp would observe that the most Protestanized (and Mormanized) formerly majority Catholic Latin nation, Guatemala (it is down to about 50% Catholic now, maybe), has not achieved lift off when it comes to the quality of life, since it appears, that many denizens of that nation think Mexico offers a better deal, and vote with their feet, by trying to sneak in. Conflating assorted and sundry concepts with broad unified theories is typically wrong. The human condition is simply more complex.
What leads to God is beyond my pay grade (although I have some opinions about what leads to the good citizen and the good life), since I doubt God exists. My comment is limited to transitory condition on this mortal coil. On that one, I don't think the internecine chatter among Christian denominations, has much relevance. I suspect it is more a status thing.

For anyone interested in a literary image of life, religion and society in Brazil, (and a very, very good read), try "The War of the End of the World" by Mario Vargas LLosa.
The events took place long ago but IMHO, Llosa uses them to create "the great Brazilian novel".

From what I understand from some evangelicals is there is going to be 1 last great harvest of souls (salvation in Jesus) before Jesus returns and judges the world (yes, that freakin' final end -- when all the shiite hits the fan).

Pingao!
Actually, several of my friends from/down there are Mormon! The Mormons have been very active in recruiting at least out of Sao Paulo for many years.
Still, the majority of those whom I know are Catholic. Mmmmm.... Catholic gurls...LOL!

That said, it's very good to hear about the Lord's work in Brazil.

I don't deny that the Evangelicals are bringing Jesus to people who had generally forgotten about Him. Many of the Catholic Churches in Latin America are decadadent and have all kinds of negative political ties. Such a challenge to them is probably helpful.
But this type of Christianty generally lacks depth and appeals mainly to uneducated neophytes. I suspect that many of these folks who become nominal evangelicals will eventually find their way back to Catholicism with a renewed fervor--particularly after hearing one or two sermons which vilify Our Lady.

As in China, the Brazilian economy has boomed pari passu along with the church. I guess "the church" means the various Protestant denominations. Brazil has been Christian for the last, what, 500 years?

Thanks for this. Very encouraging. I have read Cindy Jacobs' book, "Possessing the Gates of the Enemy" and she is quite an asset to the Body of Christ.
Thanks for the ping, Quix.
