Moderator: Just Announced Fox News. They said it was coming from Reuters via the Iraqi Defense Ministry
To be honest, I doubt they were ever in al-Qa'ida hands. They made a passing claim that they had them, no pictures, no proof. I'm sure that whatever insurgent group grabbed them quickly found them to be a hotter potato then they realized, dumped them quickly, and ran. We've been tearing Yussefiah and the surrounding areas apart trying to find them, and whoever had them probably realized that they weren't going to be able to hide for long.
If it was AQI, they'd have started with the video and photo gallery early, and played it up for a lot more PR value. This looks like the work of an insurgent kidnap for ransom group, who was probably trying to sell these two to the highest terrorist bidder. A good plan, but not if you can't keep yourself alive in the process.
"a tape of downing a helicopter and claiming capture of the soldiers"
Are these the same two soldiers missing after an ambush at a checkpoint over the weekend or was there another incident?
Prayers up for these brave guys and their families.
The reporter speculated that it was getting to hot and that sometimes results in them killing the hostages.
This is very sad news...prayers with the families.
Rest in Peace, our brave young man. May the Lord comfort your loved ones.
Where were their rights as POW's?
Who will speak to this issue?
Our troops are CERTAIN that they cannot survive capture. This confirms it.
This certainty will affect how they fight. They will fight to the death.
It will affect their ALERT reflex. They will alert sooner and kill faster because they know that it's a pure "kill or be killed" environment.
Then no one would take a U.S. soldier hostage. Which sounds good, unless you consider the alternative.
Me, I'll take my chances with escape or rescue, thanks.
Very good point.

Two missing U.S. soldiers in Iraq have been killed and their bodies were found, says a spokesman for Iraq's Defense Ministry.

May the lord have mercy on their souls, protect their families.
Consider this.
We have hundreds of prisoners from this operation.
How many of our soldiers are prisoners?
Answer: Zero.
Our troops know that there is no such thing as POW status that will be granted them in this war.
"The Mansions of the Lord"
Words by Randall Wallace
To fallen soldiers let us sing
where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
to the mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
just divine embrace, eternal light
in the mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard tho the angels sleep
All through the ages safely keep the mansions of the Lord
May God give comfort and strength to the people who knew and loved these soldiers.
Rest in peace, Soldiers, Godspeed.
