Fox&Friends stated that they were also looking for a 2nd source for confirmation of this Reuters report. (No trust in Reuters as sole source, apparently.)

Reuters will slant, spin, fold, spindle and mutilate the news, but they wouldn't simply invent it. That's too obvious, whereas it's easy to cover your tracks when you're simply biased. I'm sure the 2nd source they're looking for is the U.S. military to confirm or deny what the Iraqi defense minister is reporting.

If true I just hope to God they waited for the families to be told.

Reuters wouldn't.

Has the US given official confirmation, anyone heard?

I am watching Fox News, no secondary confirmation. Fox is waiting for their bureau in Iraq to get a second source.

You raise a great point, and I'm betting that there was no regard for the notification of families if it was simply up to Reuters.

There was some hint that this came via the Iraq Defense Ministry. If so, maybe they gave our guys enough of a heads up to isolate the families first before they heard it on the TV/Radio.

Also, it's possible, since the 101st was conducting the search, that the 101st either found them or was there when they were found.

I've done death notifications at Ft Campbell before. They are extremely efficient. They'd have the word out to the Area Casualty Commands in the locations of these families very quickly.

Wait for the MSM to report that if we had withdrawn our troops in accordance with their posturing and editorials, this wouldn't have happened.

You were in the 101st?

My brother was in the 101st during the Reagan years.

It's very sad that they were killed, but it's much better than having them being held hostage by al-Qaeda, paraded in front of a video camera before being beheaded. At least this search didn't last too long. Hopefully it was a search, and not a case of money (or other valuables) changing hands.

Fox News confirmed the deaths. US military sources can not confirm their deaths.

I don't think the families have been notificed.

I thought I heard some indication yesterday that these 2 MIGHT have been injured in the explosion that killed their 3rd fellow soldier.

Fox News seemed to indicate that these 2, however, had "been killed." They emphasized that.

Fox News Baghdad has confirmed the deaths....Just Now on the News.

They said that the US Military is withholding confirmation.

This worries me: it might mean that they're still in the process of notifying the families.

Very sad.

Lord God, we pray you be with the notification teams going to these families. Give them the strength, insight and wisdom to compassionately deliver terrible news. We pray that your Holy Spirit comfort these families and friends. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

I hate to say this but, I got a bad feeling that they may have taped their deaths.

Yes they would have been officially notified by a notification team.

Now, another team will notify about the deaths.
