If there was ever a case of mass post traumatic stress disorder, this would have to be one of the prime examples.

Something's creepy about these pictures... This is exactly how the Democrats and Greenies would wish for US to live - if they had the power to make it happen.
This is Kyoto, taken to the limits....

grew up in one (Bulgaria) and have visited a few others (USSR, Hungary, East Germany, Romania). While none was a paradise, Comrade Kim's creation is in a class of its own. That it is. Main theme is the same though: cult of personality, bad architecture and crappy cars.

Ya know, maybe NK should bill itself as the stargazing capital of the world - no light pollution.
Nah, the weather's less than desirable.

And few people compared to infrastructure surrounding.
No delivery trucks for foods and daily essentials.
Depopulated area in my opinion, or everyone is in lockdown while they search for shanks.

There are lots of buildings, but the place looks deserted. There are a few people, but almost no signs of human occupation, no laundry on the line, no rugs airing on balcony railings, etc. The place looks like a ghost town with a few extras walking the streets.

You're right about satellite photos of NK in Google Earth. Every "city" is deserted. Creepy!

Did you get a load of
this exchange on that thread:
Moderator Exroidinaire quips in #113:
well done lads, consensus seems to be that this thread has contributed to causing one of the (if not the) greatest single spikes in internet traffic this site has ever seen.
To which
BlackRain responds in #119: That is the power of the "NeoCons" from Freerepublic.com.
This photo thread is referenced there:

"Need to archive these photos for the Before & After ground Zero location pictures."
Better be sure to label them so you'll know the difference...

I'm in Google Earth, looking at 38.00 north, 127 07'23.16 E. It shows a brilliant flame or flare of some sort and a large cloud of smoke south and east of it.
Don't know what to make of it. It's probably a troll :-)

The pictures seem to show that it would be a good location if they ever decided to film a "Bladerunner 11" movie.

Can you imagine the chicks you could pick up with a Pinto or Yugo? Or your chocolate ration?

Something's creepy about these pictures...There is no electrical lighting in them that is visible, whatsoever.

As you drive along the DMZ you can see billboards on each side that look like the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. In the North they say things like "ROK leaders are dogs". In the South they say things like "We have 20,000,000 cars".

Yes I have that link. It is the satellite photo from Google maps of that thing that is so spooky. I couldn't link to it becasue the image url didn't work inside an src tag. You are looking at it from nearly directly overhead and it is the dreariest thing imaginable.
