Thanks for filling in more details. I have read a lot. The fact that Murtha did not accept the briefcase full of $50K does not excuse him from the criminal prosecution. He did say to the phony Sheiks, why not do something for my district, in Johnstown, etc. That is sufficient quid pro quo. I believe the bottom line on why he skated is he turned state's evidence.

Thanks for the clarification I thought that must be case or else the VP would not have said that they should be presume innocent until proved guilty on Hannity's radio show.

He as a former Secretary of Defense I did not think would have made an error by saying that.

He cast no votes as he was not present for any of them.

Well, Rocky has never been all there when he has cast votes.

Just listened to Britt do the subtle smackdown on Juan. Juan,(who insists in crashing into the brick wall with the dnc crash-mobile week after week), just can't get it that we want to fight the terrorists on their home turf not ours.

Talk about stuck on stupid. Britt, obviously feeling sorry for just how dumb Juan is, spanked him lightly today, being Father's day.

"Funny, no one mentions the number of deaths in Afghanistan as though it is not related to Iraq and the WOT."

Great point and God rest all of their souls. IIRC, the only time the mentioned it was when Pat Tillman was killed.

They also forget ignore this: Iraq’s coalition government claims that it has uncovered documentary proof that Mohammed Atta, the al-Qaeda mastermind of the September 11 attacks against the US, was trained in Baghdad by Abu Nidal, the notorious Palestinian terrorist. Details of Atta’s visit to the Iraqi capital in the summer of 2001, just weeks before he launched the most devastating terrorist attack in US history, are contained in a top secret memo written to Saddam Hussein, the then Iraqi president, by Tahir Jalil Habbush al-Tikriti, the former head of the Iraqi Intelligence Service.

Okay, that is pretty amazing and I am pretty sure I haven't seen this before.

#486, I think it would have been a better question from Blitzy if he had asked if the Antiwar anti-Iraqi,anti-american DBM and DNC rhetoric was an embarrassment to them.

My favorite is still the Cut and Run crowd ordering the ship of Marines to come home when faced with thugs on the Haitian docks with clubs in their hands.

That's right up there with notifying the press about our coming ashore, in Somalia I think, so they could get pictures on the beach.

Yep, the Cut & Run Crowd sure respects the military.....

Well, you KNOW it isn't going to fly with those of us who were around and voting in 1991. What I'm afraid of us the younger Republican's (many are here on FR) who only came of age late in the Clinton administration or early in the Bush administration and really don't understand what happened then. Heck, 9.6% still didn't get it in 1995 and that would have been enough to place Dole and Clinton in a virtual tie (if the % had gone to Dole which, I realize, is utopian thinking).

Didn't it seem they really took a harder stand against those guys once Murtha decided to interfere? While Rummy or the President cannot interfere directly with the JAG or NCIS, certainly they could have come out and made a strong statement about Murtha's interference.

everyone is presumed innocent until a court finds them guilty

Why, when they have yet to be formally charged, were/are they held in solitary in chains?

Watching Biden on Disgrace The Nation....he was asking when would we weed the bad guys out of the Iraqi security forces?

The proper answer would have been that it's necessary to deal with a bigger threat first: weeding the bad guys out of the US Congress, starting wth you, Joe.

Can you tell me 3 positive things the Clinton Administration accomplished in Foreign Policy?

Balkan-a UN mandated corrupt mess with no end in sight, Hati? Nope, Somalia? Terrorism? Peace in M.E.? Korea got the bomb? A dismantled virtually disarmed US Military?

Just WHAT did they do?

The official line I heard was he had back surgery, the supposition is the leaks out of the intellegence committee had a straight line to him and he is keeping a low profile.

Did Murtha annnounce he wanted Pelosi's job, or Hoyer's, also assuming Hoyer wants Pelosi's job too.

Rep. Murtha abandons leadership bid — for now

Hoyer's (assumed) post.  If the dims win back the House Pelosi would be the Speaker, 3rd in line for the Presidency.  George Bush and Dick Cheney would then be marked men.

Nope. Again, Command Influence. However, there is NO excuse for the fact that NO Republican Congress critter has stepped up to the plate to slap down Murtha.
