N. Koreans Ordered To Raise Their Flag At 2PM, and Listen to Broadcast
N. Korean leadership ordered its citizen to raise their flag and listen to their (government) communique from TV in the evening, according to Sankei Shimbun (of Japan), quoting Japanese government sources.
The paper said it is paying attention this development because it could be related to the launch of Taepodong-2.

I wonder if our laser weapons could destroy the rocket on the launch pad... But it might be a bad example.
I wonder what path the missile will take (South China Sea?)
Seems like our Aegis cruisers might consider this a hostile act and use it as a missile defense exercise.
Though the political implications of taking out this missile either on the pad or in flight might be bad, demonstrating the capability to do that might make some bad and wicked leaders take note of the fact that we might be able to destroy missiles on the ground or in the air.
I wish we had more of a missile defense than we do, for the sake of Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.
But maybe prayers are really what are needed...

I called Kim for an answer. He didn't return my call.

Remember, in asymmetrical warfare, always do, not the unexpected, but the un-evisioned. It was '56, I think when the woggies backed themselves into a canyon so the Israelis would have to come at them from one direction, where they would be killed by the assembled massed fires of the woggie tanks. Israelis rappelled an entire infantry battalion down an impossible cliff face, attacked talks from read, killed all of them. Remember "Aquaba has been taken from the (direction of the)land"

why not just stake out this launch with a Patriot or Arrow missle and shoot it down over international territory and just see what that N. Koreans have to say about that. You know, they probably do not have any way to tell if we did just that. It's not like they have some sophisticated NORAD center.

If you have the ability to stop him, but you go ahead and allow a mad man to develop the ability to kill you, maybe you deserve what you get when he finally kills you. But to stand by and patiently watch as the mad man meticulously puts together the instrument that he will use to kill you is madness in its self.
So I'm going to bed. Good night all. See you in the morning (or not).

Is it a an unarmed ICBM just to be tested in flight? If we are wrong it cost millions of lives. Tough nuts for the NK's. Any launch against the USA or Japan must be considered as having an active warhead. Better to err on the side of eliminating millions of NK and Chinese than a single US city. Are you mad? Americans will not tolerate the destruction of one city, in order to reciprocate. The Useless Nations will evaporate along with this launch. Therefore, it is with mixed emotions that many of us will watch this.

Thanks for keeping me updated, SE Mom. I just got home and am reading what is being said here and am quite shocked there's nothing on the cable news channels.
