Dan Rather might work for the
high-definition channel HDNet.
The 74-year-old man with the Mets cap pulled far down on his forehead slid into a booth at a diner on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and ordered a glass of milk without so much as turning a head so quietly, in fact, that it was hard to believe it was Dan Rather.
In place of the swagger that had served him so well throughout his 44-year career at CBS News was an obvious sadness that his tenure at the network was ticking down to an inglorious end. Mr. Rather complained that since stepping down as anchor of the " CBS Evening News" last year, in the aftermath of a reporting scandal, he had been ill used as a correspondent on "60 Minutes" and had been given virtually nothing at all to do for the previous six weeks.
Among the places he had sought solace, he said on a recent afternoon, was in "Good Night, and Good Luck," George Clooney's homage to Edward R. Murrow and the CBS News of old, a film that Mr. Rather said he had seen five times in theaters, most recently alone.
Mr. Rather's contract with CBS, and "60 Minutes," is not scheduled to expire until late November. But he said yesterday that he and the network were close to an agreement that would end his tenure early, and that he was seriously mulling a new venture that, at least initially, relatively few viewers would be able to see: he would develop and be the host of a weekly interview program on a high-definition television channel known as HDNet.
The offer, he said, had come directly from Mark Cuban, the unbridled owner of the NBA's

Good call...there is a resemblance. His face is perhaps a little less manly than hers, though.
Rather deserves to go out in disgrace because he disgraced himself, his network and the practice of journalism by sacrificing the TRUTH to his own political agenda.
Even now, at this late date, Dan Rather should go on live TV and admit that he was wrong, that he compromised his network and his audience, and ask forgiveness -- of his audience, his fellow employees, and the President. If he did that, he could retire with honor.
As it is, he deserves to be humiliated and tossed out unceremoniously, and everyone at CBS knows it. Dan brought it on himself. He should either be a man and own his actions, or expect to be reviled.
She looks pretty tough---for a supposed female.
The attempt would have deserved prosecution, of course; had the attempt not been to swing Left. . .
You mean Ward Churchill is Dan Rather's son ?
The day that saved the 2004 election and also the swift boat vets telling the truth that the media didnt want us to know
I would love for him to go on Brit Hume's show and spill everything.
That is right. The world change in front of his stuck up nose. For years he could force feed the masses and shove whatever he wanted down their throats. All the sudden those masses take him out in his own game. Couldn't be more poetic than that.
A Freeper after my own heart!
Hey Dan... don't go away mad... just go away (paraphrased from the Eastwood flick "Heartbreak Ridge" - Stich Jones to Webster).
Rather and Mapes got caught by FR and the blogs before the show was even off the air.
This caused embarassment to the CBS FRAUDcasting network excutives who thought they had better schooled propagandists.
If they had gotten away with it sufficiently long enough to swing the elections away from the Republican victory it was, the executives would have promoted them instead of getting rid of them. They are simply hoping that the FRAUDcasters who remain in the organization are better at distributing the anti-Republican propaganda. They are not attempting to purge the network of the propaganda in favor of unbiased news, just to make the liberal propaganda more effective.
It thrills me again even now to reread that post!
It appears Dan likes to work for Cubans. It doesn't matter if it is Fidel or Mark.

They are not in the style that we used when I came in to the USAF. They looked like the style and format we started using about 12 years ago (1992). Our signature blocks were left justified, now they are rigth of center...like the ones they just showed.
Can we get a copy of those memos?
Not to take anything away from Buckhead and the wonderful work done by the other blogsters, LONG before these FRAUDS were exposed by the font analysis, over three hours before, many FReepers had weighed in that the style of the documents was historically inaccurate.
Amen to that.
True American patriots there.
I bet Dan spells it a little differently.
Actually, please look at my post#94 this thread - buckhead was not the first!

TankerKC first spotted these FRAUDS stylistically, on Howlin's live thread ... hours before buckhead's spotting the font FRAUD.
I'm glad you saw my entry.
Busting these FRAUDcasters was a community effort, as you've stated many times yourself. It is important for ALL of us to realize that we can make a difference in this medium - WE - that each little contribution to these threads and the research that can go on during them is able to spark thoughts in another to carry the research forward. Several FReepers on Howlin's original thread commented from their experience that the style was wrong. You spotted the fonts first (to the best of my knowledge) but the style tip-off was critical to our looking deeper and deeper into these documents.
