JOWHAR, Somalia - The leader of Somalia's Islamic Courts Union said that 300 Ethiopian troops crossed into the country Saturday.

The Ethiopian troops entered Somalia through the border town of Dolow in the southwestern region of Gedo at 8 a.m., Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, chairman of the Islamic Courts Union, told journalists.

Ahmed said that it was not clear where they were going or what they were going to do.

So. A leader of a court got word and has decided to tell journalists about it - but not to mention the reason the military is doing this. This suggests that he did not want to tell the real reason, possibly hoping an obvious but incorrect conclusion would be drawn.

Christians still control Ethiopia ( Coptic Christians) and I suspect that the foray into Somalia is a simple message to the Muslim International Judicial Council that if they play around with Ethipia, or Kenya for that matter, the warriors of Haille Mariam will descend upon them and take their water, as in generations past.
