N. Korean Missile Crisis Rising

Intelligence agencies of S. Korea, U.S., and Japan all agreed that N. Korea could test-fire their missile as early as 18th.

A diplomatic source in Seoul commented on 17th (of June), "N. Korea could launch their missile between 18th and 19th. S. Korea, U.S., and Japan all agreed that the launch is more likely than no-launch." It added, "If N. Korea fails to launch by 20th, it would be safe to assume that they won't."

OK, an interesting week coming up. World Cup Mania among S. Koreans will be dealt a major letdown when Chia Head tries to demonstrate again who calls the ultimate shots in Korean Peninsula.

Re #3

Elaboration: June 18th or June 19th. I would say, in this case, between is "inclusive "of end points.:)

Sorry for semantic confusion.

Raise a white flag, or better still put up a large Kim Jong-il's portrait on your rooftop. Worth a try.:)

The missile launch is a extremely provocative act on the part of the North Koreans. They have a funny way of showing that they want to "talk peace" with the United States and Japan. This is the reason why we need the USA needs an ABM screen

Kim Jung Il thinks he calls the shots on the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. Government really calls the shots on the peninsula with 100,000 U.S. Army regulars armed with tactical nuclear weapons.

Re #9

Finally, the day is approaching when our lead platoon would reach Yalu River and bring its water back down to Seoul in a canteen for celebrating N. Korea's liberation.

Hey Sushi, My son is in Kanazawa. Hope the Long Dong doesn't drop on him either!

If this missle traverses Japan, it will be considered an act of war, look for a pair of sea launched cruise missles vectoring right on in to the launch site and its buildings.Kaboom. No Dong.

U.S. State Dept. did mention "self-defense."

That is a hint that the US military is preparing to either shoot the missle down or destroy the launch facility, or both.

Kanazawa is apparently nice as you say, I have never been there, but hope to visit next summer. (Son is likely getting married to a young lady from Ichinomiya near Nagoya. He is bilingual and teaches ESL at Kanazawa Tech. I guess I made the mistake ( joke) of initiating my sons love for Japan and its people when he was a young Kyudoka, now its marriage and I will have to travel a long way to visit( LOL). My family is very happy with his choice and his fiance, who is a super lady, head and shoulders above the usual run of the mill quality of x generation whiney women one finds in the USA.)

I hope that there is no war with N. Korea, but it seems that we draw closer ever day.

TOKYO - North Korean officials denied that the country is preparing to test-launch a missile, a news report said Saturday, citing a South Korean official.
Visiting officials from the North told a South Korean lawmaker that concerns over Pyongyang's possible missile test are "unfounded," Japan's Kyodo News agency reported from Seoul.

If the Norkies 'go' with this missile, Tokyo said tonight that both it and Washington will immediately take this to the United Nations Security Council (not that it would help, but.... interesting....)
