BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military reported that two U.S. soldiers were missing and one was dead after their traffic control point was attacked near Yusufiyah Friday night.
After hearing an explosion and small-arms fire a U.S. military quick-reaction force responded to find the one soldier killed but no sign of the other two.

Rumsfeld is almost in the same league as Robert McNamara, gonna win a war with worthless tactics that only cost more lives.
Rumsfeld doesn't want to win the war that is really the point. He has said any number of times to Congress that all he wants to do is create a minimally capable Iraqi Security Force and leave Iraq ASAP. He really does not believe in nation building so he has kept the smallest footprint in both Afghanistan and Iraq possible without both countries breaking apart.

For once I got you beat, Gramma. I started praying this afternoon when I first heard the grim news on the radio.
Hugs to Brad. ;-)

I saw this earlier. I hate the "missing" thing. Me too. It worries me because the enemy is really mad about the whole Zarqawi thing right now.
I am praying that these guys turn up alive and safe. SOON.

it went down in a deep lake, and they needed special equipment to recover the wreckage, which took a while to get in place. They were "missing," but there was never any doubt what happened to them or where they were.

May God build a shield of protection around these soldiers and all of our people who go in harm's way. May He comfort the families and friends and give them peace and strength, in Jesus' name.

Thanks. Please let me know when you hear anything.
We haven't heard anything all day. And most of the troops have been out all day on Operation Together Forward.

Caldwell looked and sound very sober.
Names of MIA not released yet pending notification of NOK.
Searches of houses in area- developing intel from the ground, air and river..ongoing as we speak..
